I am proud of my sporting success and experience Armel Tripon Armel Tripon, the skipper Armel Tripon, offshore racer since 2003. My short biography : Born August 11th 1975 married, 3 kids. Home port : La Trinité-sur-Mer Where does the passion come from? It all started during my high school years. I sailed for the first time in 1994 on a 6m50 muscadet boat, at night, with 3 friends in the Quiberon Bay on the way to the island of Hoëdic. There were stars everywhere, a phosphorescent wake, the land fading away, an island taking shape in the darkness… It felt like a revelation, even better : love at first sight! Did it become your everyday life straight away? I immediately decided it was going to be my life. Six months later, I was at the Glénans, the largest sailing school, ready to learn what was going to become my job, skipper. What about racing? My first encounter with racing was when watching the start of the Route du Rhum, at sea, off Cape Fréhel. I immediately wanted to be part of it. My first race took place on a class 8 when completing my national sports instructor’s certificate in Quiberon. I then became passionate about crewed race competition, I only was living for that… How did you switch to ocean races? I started as a racing boat preparer on the Figaro circuit, which allowed me to learn what it was to get prepared and to acually take part in such a race. Then, I decided to embark on the adventure of the transatlantic race for 6m50 boats. This founding and winning experience propelled me into solo racing on the major circuits. Ready for The Transat 2016? More than ever! The boat as well as me, we are at our best. I feel we will make a very offensive team!
