Welcome to "Dolphins Talk", the news update that keeps our Frankston Football Club community updated & informed on our progress as we renew Frankston FC and work on regaining our VFL Licence Oct 2016 CURRENT STATE We have a capable Steering Committee and a large reference group that we are using to develop and implement plans for all aspects of the Club (Football, Commercial, Sponsors, Community, Functions Centre & Ground). We have the outline of a plan that will be expanded in detail in the coming weeks once the new DOCA is accepted. TIMELINE UPDATE - AUG/SEPT 2016 26th Aug – Administrators appointed to FFC and they prepared a Deed of Company Arrangement (DOCA) to help FFC trade out of debt 12th Sept - Ben Cavarra named in VFL Team of the Year at Liston Trophy Night 29th Sept - FFC Presentation Night. Josh Newman wins B&F. If you missed Patrick Hill's inspiring speech click here to read it now 30th Sept – AFL Victoria announce that FFC will not be issued a licence in 2017 as they consider the financial situation of the club untenable 30th Sept - Chris Crewther MP Federal Member for Dunkley & Gillon McLachlan's advisors meet at AFL House for further discussions 30th Sep – 2 FFC Life Members Adrian Lloyd & Peter Geddes send letter to administrators to ask them to consider a second DOCA based on regaining our licence in 2018 and using 2017 to put in place everything required for us to be a viable, successful VFL team. They accept and are awaiting the new proposal from FFC. 19th Sept – Copy of DOCA from administrators submitted to AFL 20th Sept - Special meeting of Past Players & Officials called to see if they can help the Club 21st Sept – Forecast budgets submitted to AFL 27th Sept - Paul Edbrooke MP State Member for Frankston starts online petition calling for reversal of decision by AFL Vic. There's still time to sign - just click through here TIMELINE UPDATE - OCTOBER 2016 2nd Oct – Western Bulldogs win AFL GF with 3 former Frankston players in key roles (Coach Luke Beveridge, Former Captain Matthew Boyd & 2nd in goal kicking Tory Dickson) 4th Oct – FFC creates a Steering Committee consisting of people from FFC & local football, business, government, AFL, communication and community representatives. The Committee adopts a clear objective of regaining our licence for 2018. 5th Oct - FFC meeting of over 200 members & interested parties unanimously supports the new DOCA proposal and commits to saving Frankston Football Club. Ian Dicker (ex Hawthorn FC President 1996-2005) addresses the meeting and commits to help guide the club through the next few years. 12th Oct - FFC final players meeting for 2016 where matters of players welfare and future were discussed. John Georgiou (FFC) and John Hook (AFL Vic) commit to support the players, coaches and football Officials in whatever they choose to do in 2017 and offer support in football and welfare with a view to inviting them back to the Club in 2018. 13th Oct - Frankston Council send letter of support for FFC EXCITING TIMES AHEAD In the next few weeks all of the Peninsula football lovers, community groups, AFL identities, business leaders and everyone who has been voicing their support for us will have a chance to join us at the ground and, in a really tangible way, show their support for the iconic Frankston Dolphins Football Club. You will have the chance to be part of a movement that re-establishes us as the leaders of football & community involvement on the Peninsula.
