For young people in and around Melksham
I/we declare that I am/we are over 25 years of age, have held a current driving licence for at
least 3 years which is free from endorsements/penalty points and have not been involved in
any accidents in the last five years.
Terms and Conditions of Minibus Hire
All hirers of the Young Melksham minibus must agree to these terms and
conditions of hire.
1. Minibus hire is available to local youth
groups, charities and other non-profit
making community and voluntary
groups working with children and
young people in and around
Melksham (see community area map
for guidance)
2. Hirers must ensure they have a valid
section 19 permit and display the disc
when using the minibus
3. All drivers must provide evidence that
they have a driving licence valid for
the type of vehicle to be driven (D1).
4. All drivers must be over 25 years and
under 75 years and must have held a
full driving licence for at least 3 years.
5. All drivers must ensure they are
familiar with the controls of the
minibus before they use it.
7. Drivers are to complete the log sheets
kept in the vehicle at the start and end
of hiring.
9. Drivers must also satisfy the
requirements of any Road Traffic
Legislation in force at the time of hire.
10. The minibus cannot be hired to
individuals or groups who are not
registered charities or constituted
voluntary groups (ie non-profit making
organisations).

13. Hirers are responsible for operating
the vehicles safely and legally.
Vehicles must be left in a clean and
tidy condition.
14. Keys may not be kept by any group
without the prior permission of Young
Melksham or passed on to other
users and they must always be
returned on the day of use to the
designated place.
15. Young Melksham reserves the right to
refuse to hire the minibus to any
organisation or group that fails to
comply with the above terms and
conditions.
16. Hiring rates are published from time to
time and when changes occur. Hirers
should acquaint themselves with the
current costing arrangements and pay
invoices when presented.
17. Young Melksham reserves the right to
change these terms of conditions to
align with any legal, operational or
statutory requirements.

8. The hirer is responsible for any
charges or fines relating to traffic or
parking violations
12. Hirers are responsible for up to the
excess charge (currently £150)
resulting from any insurance claim
which cannot be recovered from a
third party. All damage must be
reported within 24 hours.
For young people in and around Melksham
6. All drivers are responsible for
conducting pre-drive safety checks in
line with the minibus policy and
procedures
11. Drivers must not be changed without
giving prior notice to Young Melksham
and the replacement must be
approved to drive. Failure to do this
will invalidate the insurance cover.
