Reception ‘Proud Cloud’
Dear Parent/Carer
As usual, we love to hear about all of the exciting things that your children get up to! An important part of
your child’s development is facilitated at school, but the majority of their time is spent with the most important people
in their lives – you.
We continually track your child’s progress on a day to day basis and provide opportunities to observe how the children
are getting on according to their age related expectations. However, there may be times at home where you spot
your child doing something they have never done before, or have achieved something that you are really proud of.
Some examples may be;







Blend letters to read words (sh – o – p )
Count to 20 forwards and backwards
Using scissors to cut out a picture carefully
Add 2 numbers together and find the total
Order numbers to 20
Learning a nursery rhyme off by heart
Gaining a certificate for a sport or club they belong to (e.g. swim without flotation aids)
We would like to introduce our class ‘Proud Cloud’. Parents or other family members can write on a cloud each time
they are proud of something their child has done. This cloud can then be handed to the class teacher, who will praise
the child and display it in the classroom. Your comments may also link to your child’s assessment evidence.
We have attached a few clouds for you. Please don’t feel like you need to send one every week, only as and when
you have something lovely to share! Please ask your child’s class teacher if you need any more clouds.
We look forward to hearing all about your proud moments!
Kind regards,
Reception staff
