December 14: “Love Feast: Ritual or Way of Life?”-Reverend Claudia M FrostCelebrated by many faith traditions and denominations, the Love Feast or Agape Meal recalls the meals Jesus shared with his disciples during his ministry. Such meals expressed the community, sharing and fellowship that was a signature of his ministry in a time where meals were rituals of exclusion and privilege rather than a time of love and sharing. Let us enjoy this beautiful holiday ritual as we begin the Christmas season with love, hope and joy in our hearts. December 21: “Christmas Music”-Jimmy Merritt-a celebration of the season in song. My Spanish is present tense only. I’m going to continue to study Spanish on the computer and listening to CDs. My time with the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of San Miguel de Allende is full of good memories. My first two months of sabbatical have been very good and I’ve learned a lot. I hope life at Outlaw’s Bridge Universalist Church has been good for you, too. I spent a little time in Texas with family but most of my first two months of sabbatical were spent in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico. I met many interesting people and studied Spanish with formal classes and a tutor. However, I still have much to learn, as I only understand present tense so far. That makes communication possible, but very limited. I have some new stories and ideas I’m looking forward to sharing with you. Come celebrate our newly awarded “Welcoming Congregation” designation on my first Sunday back on December 14th. In addition to our celebration, stories of my time in Mexico will be part of my “Home for Christmas” message 11:00 a.m. We’ll also open the Feliz Navidad season with the annual Love Feast on December 14th; pot luck dinner is at 5:30 followed by the worship service and Love Feast ritual. I’ve missed you. Hope to see you at church. With Love, Hope, and Joy, Claudia
