The NYAPRS Annual Conference is a celebration of advances in
the promotion of recovery, rehabilitation, rights and community
inclusion of people with psychiatric disabilities, and of the transformation of mental health services and support systems across
the state and nation. Make your contribution to the knowledge
and skills of others by submitting a proposal!

Presentation Selection Process:
Presentation proposals will be reviewed
and selected based on the following:
Deadline for

Relationship to recovery and empowerment;

Relevance to peers, peer-run organizations, direct
service and administrative professionals, advocates, family
members, behavioral health and managed care
organizations, and federal, state and local government
authorities;

Demonstration of personal and programmatic
advances in promoting personal healing and systems
transformation;

Application to cultural diversity and inclusions for groups
with diverse and special needs; and

Foundations in exemplary practices.

Special Notes to Presenters:

NYAPRS encourages first-time presenters as well as the more experienced
presenter.

NYAPRS encourages the full participation of persons in recovery as
presenters and co-presenters.

All presenters must be paid registrants of the conference. The cost of the
conference does not allow NYAPRS to waive conference fees for presenters.

NYAPRS cannot provide honoraria or travel reimbursement for presenters.

The conference committee may request a modification of the content of the
presentation to address the particular needs of the conference participants.
This may include combining two or more presentations into one.
CPRP Information:
We are pleased to announce that our 32nd Annual Conference will be certified as PreApproved for CPRP continuing education / pre-exam credit through our application to
USPRA as a Pre-Approved Provider. This has necessitated some changes in the type and
amount of information collected. Please fill out the attached proposal form completely. If
you have any questions about this, please contact Colleen Sheehan, CPRP at:

We will also offer valuable workshops and activities that may not meet CPRP pre-approval
criteria. PLEASE APPLY, as in the past, ALL WORKSHOPS WILL BE CONSIDERED.
For the CPRP workshop pre-approval, your workshop will have to address at least one of the
seven domains of Professional Ethics. The seven domains are:


Boston University’s Center for Psychiatric Rehabilitations Professional Development Program offers
and online seminar on:
How to Give a Workshop
Instructor: Patricia B. Nemec, PsyD, CRC, CPRP
Participants will learn the basics of designing and delivering a workshop presentation. Participants
will be introduced to both the general principles and essential steps of preparing a workshop proposal, as well as, planning and delivering a 90 minute workshop. The online seminar activities and
examples will guide participants through the process of sketching out a workshop presentation.
Participants will earn 5 PDP (Professional Development Program) hours; the online seminar cost is
$25 (or $20 for consumers and their family members).

The program is offered in a self-paced study format with instruction materials accessible through the
website and the mail upon enrollment.
