Chief Global Engagement Officer

Washington, DC
CHIEF GLOBAL ENGAGEMENT OFFICER
Pathfinder International is a global leader in sexual and reproductive health. It is driven by the conviction
that all people, regardless of where they live, have the right to decide whether and when to have children,
to exist free from fear and stigma, and to lead the lives they choose. The organization places reproductive
health care at the center of all that it does—believing that it is not only a fundamental human right, but is
critical for expanding life opportunities for women, families, communities, and nations, and paving the way
for transformations in environmental stewardship, decreases in population pressures, and innovations in
poverty reduction. Since 1957, Pathfinder has partnered with local governments, communities, and health
systems to remove barriers to critical sexual and reproductive health services. Pathfinder has worked in over
70 countries on six continents, always going where the need is greatest. Currently in more than 20 countries
around the world, Pathfinder’s 800+ team works alongside hundreds of local organizations to ensure all
people have the right to decide whether and when to have children and to lead the lives they choose. Nearly
90% of its employees worldwide come from and serve the very communities where they work.
Position Mission
This newly created role is an extraordinary opportunity to work in close partnership with Pathfinder
International’s new President & Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Lois Quam to raise awareness about the
organization with the goal of securing funding to continue Pathfinder International’s vital community
development work around the world. Overseeing Institutional Giving, New Business Development,
Fundraising and Public Affairs, the Chief Global Engagement Officer will lead a strategic and synchronized
plan that will unify revenue generation, targeting audiences including public donors, technical networks,
peer development organizations, private donors, advocates, and foundation funders. 80-90% of Pathfinder
International’s funding comes from foundation and government grants. It is vital to continue to demonstrate
value to these funders and leverage new sources of revenue. To that end, this position will develop a
coherent strategy that links all externally facing units as well as one that focuses on sustained revenue and
includes broadening the donor base while achieving a more diversified portfolio. This position works crossfunctionally to manage external activities throughout Pathfinder on a global scale, leveraging resources
within the organization and building out external relations capabilities as appropriate. Pathfinder
International’s headquarters are in Boston, MA with an office in Washington, DC. Ideally, this position will be
based in Washington, DC to be connected to policy makers, but there is flexibility in the location.
