Our 211 Church Anniversary Guest Preacher
BISHOP JOHN M. BORDERS, III is the visionary and Senior
Pastor for Morning Star Baptist Church, located in Boston, MA.
Bishop Borders started his pastoral ministry in 1981. He speaks
to approximately 5,000 members in attendance and more than
5,000 around the world via the internet every Sunday. The ministry of Morning Star Baptist church is received by individuals
from more than 20 countries through online broadcasts and a
comprehensive web-based program. The church’s membership has grown from
75 members to over 5,000, ministering to over 18,000 people during his 32 years
of service. For more than 27 years he has been the host of “The Beacon Light”, a
radio broadcast on Salem Communications’ WEZE Family 590am.
Rev. John Matthew Borders III was consecrated to the office of Bishop in June
2010, in honor of his God-given spiritual authority and life-affirming impartation to
God’s people. He has become well known for his unique style in expounding the
scriptures, making them come alive to a multitude of audiences. Bishop Borders
is a spiritual father to many. He has licensed and ordained over 35 individuals to
preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ. He continues to pour into the lives of many pastors and preachers around the country as their Bishop as well.
Bishop Borders has a strong social commitment to the community. He was the
first black chaplain in the history of the Suffolk County Jail; he served for fifteen
years as chaplain. He served on various boards, including Boston Medical Center
and the Governor’s Anti-crime Commission.
Bishop Borders holds a diploma in religion from Gordon Conwell Theological
Seminary and has studied at Boston University, School of Theology. He also holds
honorary Doctor of Divinity degrees from St. Thomas Christian College in Jacksonville, FL and Maryland Theological Seminary of Baltimore, MD.
Bishop Borders has been married to First Lady Sandra Elizabeth (McBride)
Borders for 30 years and is the proud father of three children Leylana, Min. John
Matthew IV (Francisca), and Brittany Borders, also two grandchildren Madison
and Bailey.
ANNOUNCEMENTS

answer questions on the proposed 2015 church budget. Plan to attend
one of the sessions on Thursday, Nov. 13, 7 pm – 9 pm, in room 213, or
on Sunday, Nov. 16, from 1pm – 3pm, in the Adkins Chapel.
The Entrepreneurship Ministry presents "Get Your Company Ready to
Speak to the Media: 5 Tips to Convey your Message". The guest speaker
is April Watts with Magic 102.3. Sunday, Nov. 16, 2- 4pm in room 213.
Legal Resources Ministry: The Alfred Street Sidebar. Speak with a
volunteer attorney who can provide legal advice and guidance regarding
your specific legal matter on Sunday, Nov. 16, 1pm to 2pm, room 211/212.
