DRESS CODE OF THE RSGC
Effective 1 January 2016
While in the Club premises, all Members and guests must maintain a reasonable standard
of dressing at all times. On the course including at the practice facilities, all golfers are to
dress in proper golf attire particularly one that is inoffensive and respectful of others.

Golf Course & Practice Facilities (Driving Range, Practice Greens & Bunkers)
Men & Boys
Acceptable

Shirts with a collar / mock neck and with sleeves.

Shirts must be tucked into the trousers or shorts at all times.

Golf / tailored trousers and shorts. Acceptable length of shorts is not more than 4 inches
above the knees.

Mid-calf length trousers are permitted, provided worn with knee-length socks.
Unacceptable

All that is contrary to the above-mentioned Acceptable list.

Denim jeans regardless of labels, style or colour.

Combat style / cargo pants with multi pockets, draw-string pants and pants with elastic /
pleated waistband.

Tracksuits, athletic or exercise shorts, vests and sweat suits.

Football or rugby jersey look-alike shirts and any shirts carrying slogans or numbers.
Footwear

Only proper golf shoes are permitted. Metal spikes are not allowed.
Caps / Hats and Visors

Peaks of golf / sports caps and visors are to be worn in front.
Inter-Club Matches

Designated RSGC’s collared golf shirts must be worn by Members including Juniors.

Ladies & Girls
Acceptable

Shirts with a collar / mock neck.

Sleeveless shirts are allowed, provided they are conservative and of a type commonly
considered standard golf attire.

Golf shirts designed to be worn out are allowed, provided the bottom edge does not expose
the midriff.

Golf / tailored slacks, capris (mid-calf length trousers), skirts, shorts and skorts.
Acceptable length of skirts, shorts and skorts is not more than 8 inches above the knee.

Leggings are allowed, provided they are in full length. Leggings must be worn underneath the
skirts, shorts and skorts and must be tucked into the socks.
Unacceptable

All that is contrary to the above-mentioned Acceptable list.


Banquet Hall, Heritage Room, The Green, Upper Gallery, Reading Room,
Main Lobby, Front-Office Counter, Conference Room, Meeting Rooms,
Slot Machines Room and Card Room.
Men & Boys
Acceptable
 Shirts and sports shirts must have a collar / mock neck and with sleeves.
 Shirts with a curved edge at the sides and all types of sports shirts must be tucked into the
trousers or shorts before 7.00 pm.
 Tailored / golf trousers, shorts and jeans. Length of shorts is not more than 4 inches above
the knees.

 All that is contrary to the above-mentioned Acceptable list.

Jeans that are excessively faded, frayed or with tears.

 Suitable footwear must be worn. Sandals (shoes with straps at the ankles) are permitted.
 Slippers, crocs and flip-flops are not permitted.
Caps/Hats and Visors
 Members are encouraged to take off their caps / hats and visors whilst inside the Main
Lounge, 1893 (Modesto’s), Courtyard, Banquet Hall, Heritage Room, The Green, Upper
Gallery and Men’s Bar – with the exception of traditional / religious head-gears.

 Sports shoes – only shoes with non-marking soles are allowed.
Unacceptable
 Non-sports attire, swimming attire and bath robes.
 Golf shoes and non-sports shoes.
Tennis Courts, Tennis Pavilion & Squash Courts
Acceptable
 Proper sports attire applicable to the activities.
 Sports shoes – only shoes with non-marking soles are allowed at the Squash Courts.
Unacceptable
 Non-sports attire, swimming attire and bath robes.
 Golf shoes and non-sports shoes.
Multi-Purpose Hall
Acceptable
 Proper attire and footwear applicable to the activities – line dancing, ballroom dancing, yoga
etc.
Unacceptable
 Swimming attire and bath robes.
Swimming Pools ( “In the Pools” )
Acceptable
 Proper swimming attire.
Recreational Terrace ( “Tai-Chi” Area )
Acceptable
 Proper attire and footwear applicable to the activities - Tai-Chi, Tae-Kwon-Do etc.
