A Snow Day Reflection
By the Redelspergers
The crackling fire inside while the snow scatters outside.
The dusting of snow, falling from the roof.
Oh boy, here comes the snow!
The snow is soft like powdered sugar and cold like ice.
The crisp winter air chills my lungs while the blowing snow stings my face.
The icicles like a thread hanging from what seems like nothing at all.
Oh boy, here comes the powdered sugar snow, like on French toast sweet.
However, snow is not powdered sugar. It is just frozen rain.
I could just lay here and watch as the large flakes of snow drift from the sky.
The trees frosted over by little fairies.
Oh boy, here comes the ice cream snow. As cold and nummy as normal snow.
It is very fun to eat it and play in it.
The branches heavy with snow droop downward creating frosted pointed towers on the horizon.
The trees are clothed in white.
Oh boy, here come the marshmallow snow. As fluffy and white as a pillow to sleep with.
Building a snowman is very fun. Snowball and snowball fights are fun too.
Everything I see looks like it has been sprayed with whipped cream.
Soft as powdered sugar, but cold to the touch.
Oh boy, the snowflakes swirl and dance as if in a trance.
My most favorite is enjoying winter.
With all that powder sugar, ice cream, and marshmallow snow I get a snow day with my family!

The K-5 Friday class
had a luau!
The Math Facts Challenge for students in grades K-5 continues this
Spring. As your student masters their addition, subtraction,
multiplication and division facts they can earn bracelets, medals and
even a personal pizza from Round Table. Students can earn four
bracelets, one for each operation (addition, subtraction, multiplication
and division) by demonstrating their mastery of each math fact on two
quick assessments given by your EF over two separate meetings. For
every two bracelets they earn they receive a medal and once they have
mastered all four facts they will get a certificate for a personal pizza. The
medals and pizzas will be handed out at either the Spring North County
or South County Math Facts Challenge Awards Ceremony. Please stay
tuned for the Spring Awards Ceremony date. For more information
please talk to your EF or email Nate, the South County Math Specialist,
at [email protected].
Congratulations to Raven Barto, who represented Golden Eagle Charter School in
the Siskiyou County Spelling Bee on February 1 st. She did well, but stumped on
the word physique. She competed in the elementary bee.
Conor Bekaert represented our school in the Siskiyou County junior high spelling
bee and won!! He did not miss one word! The last three words that he
spelled correctly were schismatic, epitome, and meerschaum. He will compete in
the statewide junior high spelling bee championship in San Rafael on May 6.
