Focusing on everyday life, work and wartime experiences, a unique interpretation by a number of The Faversham commissioned artists from Faversham and the South East. The project will include workshops & Society exhibitions for an intergenerational audience. The legacy of the work with add to the Fleur’s Heritage archive with some elements on permanent display. Warden Bay Village Creation of Remembrance Garden and paved access to the area beside the Community Centre. Hall Community Centre Landscaping and surrounds of a traditional bandstand being constructed as a permanent memorial Leysdown Parish to WW1. The bandstand will display a plaque dedicated to the fallen and host a memorial function Council upon completion. Development and delivery of WW1 project entilted 'Breaking the Myths: First World War and Africa'. To research and tell the largely untold story of the role of Africans in WW1. This project will produce a film with commentary to show disabled visitors and others the story of the WW1 artefacts and make the experience more inclusive and accessible to all. Support to enable Sittingbourne Orpheus to take up an invitation to attend and participate in the memorial service in Ypres to commemorate the 2nd year of the outbreak of WW1. The memorial will be in the form of a concert with choirs from England, France, Belgium and Germany in Ypres Cathedral. Organisational support for commemorative services for the ten individuals from Hartlip who lost their lives during WW1. The community and families will be invited to attend the ten services and Hartlip Parish Council refreshments afterwards. Wreaths and a commemorative plaque will also be produced. Sittingbourne Orpheus Choral Society Memorial planting, bench and shutter painted in commemorative style with poppies at the Community Minster Community Centre. These works will provide a visual reminder and place where residents can reflect and remember all Centre loved ones involved in WW1 and other conflicts. Development and delivery of project 'Illuminata Aviatica', working with children and families to research the important role Sheppey played in the history of aviation during WW1 by the Royal Naval Air Service Big Fish Arts and the Royal Flying Corps at Eastchurch. Producing lantern structures based on aeroplane designs to be lit by hundreds of coloured fairy lights and displayed during the Winter Lantern Parade in Sheerness. Production of large posters to be placed in shop fronts which will list the fallen from the Town of 1915. This Sittingbourne Retail follows the success of the posters produced in 2014 to raise awareness of the WW1 Centenary and the Association (SRA) impact on Sittingbourne. Barton Court Care Creation of memorial garden, poppy fountain and seating at the Care Home for residents. Home - Minster Residents Group Production of age specific education packs for all Sheppey school children to inform them about the Isle of Sheppey’s role in WW1. The packs will include work sheets and a copy of the WW1 Sheppey Passport together with information about famous people linked with Sheppey such as Franz Losel (first spy arrested Blue Town by MI5), Captain Scarlett who organised WW1 aviation from Sheerness Dockyard and James McCudden VC Remembered who lived in Sheerness. There are 8,000 school children on Sheppey and the initial print run is dependent upon fund raising as each pack will cost £2 to produce. Eastchurch Parish Council Creation of a permanent feature commemorating WW1 formed of a 60m2 block of planting on the western approach to the village. Planted with Flanders poppy seeds, wild flowers and a single oak tree with a stake and inscribed plaque. Plus pictures of Franz Heinrich Lösel the German National accused of being a spy during the war. Bensteds Charity War Support to develop 'The Faversham War Memorial Project', which is considering the relocation of the war Memorial Fund - memorial within the existing garden to allow for better access during commemorative ceremonies and to allow more people to participate in remembrance day events. The project will include for new memorial Faversham War walls containing the names of the fallen from WW1 that are not recorded on other memorials to ensure Memorial that all names are on public display. Development of the memorial garden created as a village WW1 commemorial project in 2014 at the site of Newington History the village sign. The subject of the research, Old Bordenians who fought for their country in WW1 and WW2. The title of the publication will be 'Wartime Heroes of Borden Grammar School Remembered'. It will be a comprehensive and detailed account which will support commemoration for all, and a fitting legacy of the local WW1 & WW2 research completed. Organisation and delivery of 'The Great Explosion Centenary Service' at Love Lane Cemetery on April 2nd 2016. Working with the Faversham Society, Oare Parish Council and the community to commemorate the loss of local 106 lives in 'The Great Explosion' at Uplees Gunpowder Works in 1916. Mount an exhibition at The Fleur de Lis Heritage Centre on the centenary of 'The Great Explosion' at Uplees on April 2nd 1916. Encouraging local community led projects and activities across the Borough to commemorate the WW1 Centenary in Swale. Grant applications are processed upon receipt to enable projects to be delivered throughout the year.
