Notes to Parents:
This will be a more difficult week for most of the students. Word problems are a challenge.
Remind the students that there are geometry formulas in the front and back of the book.
None of these formulas will need to be memorized for Chapter 2.
Also difficult is the task of solving for a specified variable, (or solving a literal equation).
It helps them quite a bit to just think of it as “rearranging” the equation. See ex. 6 on p.151
This idea of solving and not getting a number answer is mysterious for now.
The students should always be studying the examples in the book. I can tell already that
some of them are doing just that! If they need to spend more than 5 hours per week on
studying and assignments, please inform me.
We are off to a good start. Your children are very attentive, cooperative and curious.

answers provided in the back of the book. I will collect & correct some
homework assignments (I will always check for completion) and encourage
students to make corrections for ½ the credit back. In Class Test on Monday
Oct. 12 on both Chapter 1 and Chapter 2.
