Take care of the Brecks; take care of yourself
Roads - Beware fast traffic on straight Brecks roads.
Take great care when crossing or turning right and
watch out for deer and wildlife on verges and
crossing roads.
Fire - Guard against all risk of fire. The Brecks can
be tinder dry in summer.
Ticks - Guard against tick bites which may carry
Lyme Disease. Remove any embedded ticks with a
gentle, twisting pull using tweezers.
Dogs - Keep dogs under close control. They can
be a serious menace to sheep, deer and other
wildlife.
Snakes - Adders may bite dogs and humans if
alarmed. Keep calm and seek prompt medical
20
attention if bitten.
Military Activity - Stanford Training Area is used
day and night by the Army for live firing. Be
prepared for sudden troop movements and loud
noises.
Car Thieves - Don’t leave your valuables in view.
Flints - Flints can be razor sharp. Don’t forget your
bicycle puncture repair kit.
