ashan, the hip-hop artiste who
operated as Redrum till recently, is roaring away in the local
scene – as a singer/rapper, radio DJ
and TV presenter.
His debut album is now ready for
release and Yashan is working on the
launch date.
“My plan is to give Sri Lankan
music lovers a totally different and a
new musical experience at the
launch.
“I’m also planning to get all the
artistes, who appear on my album,
for this mind-blowing musical event.
“There’s Bathiya and Santhush,
Ashanthi, Randhir and Nirosha
Perera and I’m going to make it a
major happening”, said Yashan.
Todate, he has received over 1500
album-launch-ticket
requests.
Unfortunately, he wouldn’t be able to
oblige all, but would do his best to
accommodate as many as he possibly can, he said.
The first single from this muchawaited album is “Sandawathuren
Part 2”.
“To be honest, it isn’t the best single from the album. It was just a little
publicity stunt. I just wanted to give
my fans a surprise. I’ve got some
super hits on my album, and it’s
going to be a big bang – no doubt
about it”, added Yashan.
The second single from the
album was heard on YFM a couple of
weeks ago. The song’s called “Bamba
Kotapu Hinda” and features
Santhush as well.
The video for the song will be out
soon – Yashan’s third solo music
video.
In the role of a DJ, Yashan does
YFM’s “Saturday Hot Beat” along
with DJ Slash. You could catch the
action on Saturdays – 9 a.m. to 11
a.m.
All the fresh hits, both local and
international, are given a spin on
this programme.
Yashan’s TV show is called “Mix
Bag”. It’s a programme very specially for teenagers and is all about hiphop, rap and R ‘n’ B music.

went on to say. And this TV scene is
on Saturdays, 4.30 p.m., on Sirasa TV.
Just 21 years old, and Yashan is
already experiencing mega success.

happenings at The Orian pub and
restaurant of the Ramada Doha.
The Orian is a relatively new
outlet but its popularity with the
expatriates is enormous. And the
music dished out by Aquarius is
one of the contributing factors
towards its success.
Whenever there is a large
crowd at The Orian (and it’s happening quite after these days) –
enjoying the food, beverages, and
the music of Aquarius – it’s a ‘top
of the world’ feeling for Benjy.

enjoying our work tremendously
and Dalreen is another big attraction”.
Benjy went on to say that all
the hard work put in by the
General Manager of the Ramada
Doha, Mr. Gordon MacKenzie, is
now paying rick dividends.
“He is dynamic and energetic
and working with him is a pleasure”, added the bassist.
HEARD… these guys, too,
are very much involved in the
cheating game.
Their modus operandi is to
get onstage, request for a couple of mikes, and then surreptitiously have them switched
off, while going through the
motions of performing.
Obviously, they are those
infamous CD-playing performers who do nothing and get
paid – as much as Rs. 80,000 to
hoodwink the public.

Although the music they play
is more in keeping with the golden oldies era, the scene at The
Orian
is
witnessing
some
changes, where the more modern
stuff is also being introduced.
With the going being extreme-
ly good for Aquarius at The
Orian, it seems highly improbable that we would see Dalreen perform in the local scene in the very
near future.
Who knows, it could even be a
one-year wait!

Pregnant, Christina Aguilera, joined
the celebrity Hollywood flashers during a
recent night out with husband, Jordan
Bratman, when she struggled into a car
and appeared to have forgotten her
underwear.
The "Genie In A Bottle" singer was
caught with her pants off by photographers after dining at top restaurant
Amalfi.
Ironically, Aguilera was among the
stars pouring scorn on peers like Britney
Spears and Lindsay Lohan for their
knicker-less antics earlier this year.
The pop star, who bares almost all in
the upcoming January (08) issue of style
magazine "Marie Claire", said, "I say,
'Keep your legs closed. There's a proper
way to make sure privates are kept private'.
SPICE GIRLS star, Melanie Brown,
has given her beloved Labrador a new
lease of life - by taking him to Los
Angeles with her.
The pop star fell for the dog - who she
named Lord - when he was just three
months old and took him home to her
English country retreat.
But years of England's damp weather
have taken their toll on Lord, who suffers
from arthritis and other joint problems and so his mistress decided the
California sun would be the perfect remedy - and relocated him.
She says, "The bitter cold in England
would have done him no favours."
And Lord loves his new home in the
sun so much, he doesn't like the idea of
joining Mel B on the road as she tours
North America with the reunited Spice
Girls.
She adds, "I've got a dog-sitter."
KANYE WEST is planning to fulfil his
mother's last wish, and marry his
fiancee, Alexis Phifer, by the end of the
year.
The rapper has decided not to stall his
marriage plans in the wake of his mother Donda's tragic death earlier last
month - because he knew she wanted him
to settle down.
According to a friend, "His mother's
sudden death brought into focus just how
short life really is. Kanye doesn't want to
wait any longer to make Alexis his wife.
"He believes that this is what his mom
would want him to do.
"Kanye knew how much his mother
loved Alexis and how she was looking
forward to seeing them married."
Before her untimely death, Donda
went public with her feelings for her
daughter-in-law-to-be, calling Phifer "a
very outstanding young woman," adding,
"I can't think of one negative thing I
would say about her - even in private."
West's mother died earlier last month
after undergoing a tummy tuck and
breast reduction in Los Angeles.
