We enjoyed
finding shapes
and colouring
them in!
Finding objects
that make a sound
and some that don’t
was super exciting!
Upcoming Activities:
Activities Covered:
There is nothing better than exploring all your senses and
having the pleasure of eating some of your favourite
foods. The children had great fun learning all about their
senses and I’m sure you will hear all about it!
In Communication and Language, we read the story ‘The
Mud Puddle’. The children had to use their sense of touch
to find items in the mud and boy, oh boy did they enjoy
this activity! I’m sure they will be begging you to make
mud puddles at home.
In Mathematics, we used the number pattern 1-2-3 to
create beautiful rainbow name sheets.
In Understanding of the World, the children got to use
all 5 senses when we made popcorn. They used their sense
of hearing while listening to the popcorn popping, their
sense of smell while it was cooking, their sense of sight,
touch and taste while eating their popcorn.
In Expressive Art and Design, the children used salt and
food colouring as a medium to create an interesting
display of their names.
In Physical Development we all had a turn to be
blindfolded and follow the sound of keys being shaken. We
were really good at following the sound around the
classroom.
With another week of senses on the way, we look
forward to more exciting activities.
For Literacy, we will be making a scratch and sniff name
card using Jell-O. The children will be able to smell the
different scent whenever they rub their fingers along
the letters of their name.
For Communication and Language, we will use our sense
of hearing to match pieces of a puzzle to the correct
sounds played on the CD player. I wonder how many of
the sounds the children will recognise?
For Mathematics, we are going to be building Cheerio
towers. It will take concentration and fine motor skills
to make them as high as possible.
For Expressive Art and Design we are going to
experiment with the primary colours red, blue and
yellow to discover how to make secondary colours. Once
we are done we hope to have a wonderful display of
colour on our pages.
We look forward to yet another week of exploration
and learning.

Listening to “The
Rainbow Fish” story
and making the craft
was awesome!
On Thursday, we moved to five different senses stations
and got to explore each one. We are going to try to
remember all we have learnt!

share it with the other children. They had a lot of fun kicking the ball around the playground!
Upcoming Events:
Using our sense of touch was super exciting!
5th November – Baking bread
There will be a very special lady coming
to visit us at school. This lady is going
to show us how to make bread. We will
get to roll out the dough and watch it
bake in the oven. Once our bread is
done in the oven we will enjoy it with
some yummy jam or cheese. We will be
using all our senses for this activity.
Tips for home:
 Please ensure your child gets to bed at a
reasonable hour so he/she is ready to learn
when they get to school.
Using our sense
of sight to
discover new
and wonderful
things was so
much fun!
 Display your child’s work from school to
help build a sense of pride in their
accomplishments.
 Read the weekly newsletter, so that you
keep up to date on what is happening.
 Drop off and collect your child promptly
each day.
 Provide your child with opportunities to
practice their pencil control.

Final Note:
Routine is an important part of building your
child’s comfort level at school. Please make sure
you drop your child off at school no later than
7:45 a.m. and pick them up at the end of the day
at 12:30 p.m.
Using our sense of taste to explore different
flavours was great!
