Simplify Creation of Scatterplot Matrix Tools like R provide the ability to quickly create a scatterplot matrix with a simple plot function over an entire data set. This creates a matrix of scatterplots that show the correlations between the various measures in the data set. For example, here is one using the "quakes" data set in R: The only way I am currently aware of doing this is in Tableau is by dragging each individual measure on to the row and column shelves and using the Shape or Circle Mark Type. 1 Simplify Creation of Scatterplot Matrix One possible way to simplify this process could be by producing a scatterplot matrix when we drag the "Measure Values" on to the row and column shelves, and unchecking "Aggregate Measures". This feature will be useful in providing a quick snapshot of the relationships between the various measures especially during initial exploration of the data. 2
