Gold Class - Dysart School

Topic for this term and things you can do at home:
This half term our topic is Rule Britannia. In history we will be learning about famous kings and queens of Britain, as well as
celebrating our current Queen. In Art we will be looking at the different types of famous buildings around Britain, focussing on
the shapes we can see in each building. In literacy we will be looking at a variety of sensory poems, and learning about rhyming
words. If you have any poetry books at home please share them with your child and see if you can look at the words that rhyme
(if they do!). In our independence sessions this half term we are working on shopping for ingredients to make healthy colourful
rice. We will then be cooking and tasting this rice, whilst working on our cooking, chopping and peeling skills. This half term we
will cover an RE topic instead of Science, where our focus is learning about all the things Sikh’s believe. As you can see we have
another busy half term!

Topic for this term and things you can do at home
In the second half of the spring term we will be learning in depth about the Victorians, and their way of life. We will
be delving into their homes, cooking some old fashioned recipes and playing some classic Victorian inspired games.
We will be reading some fun, engaging sensory stories and working on following a story sequence. We will be
continuing with our independence skills and learning about how to have good personal hygiene in our citizenship
lessons. Our science topic is habitats where we will explore all the different types of habitat on earth and the different
animals, plants and climate you find there.
