POPPY PLACEMENT PROTOCOL
1. IDENTIFY
At the cemetery you are assigned to there may be two main types of military headstones that you
are looking for; the upright military headstone and the flat military headstone.
You may also happen to find a regular headstone with a military designation which you may also
place a poppy at.
2. PLACE
Once you have identified a headstone, kneel towards the headstone. Please recite out loud the
veteran’s name and gently place the poppy at the base of the headstone.
3. REFLECT
After laying the poppy, please stand upright and take a moment to reflect on the veteran’s service
and sacrifice given so freely to Canada.
