CEL-6842 dB24 SOFTWARE PACKAGE OVERVIEW CEL-6842 dB24 Software for the CEL-24X Digital Sound Level Meter series Introduction The recent introduction of the CEL-24X Digital sound level meter now provides a low cost fully compliant general purpose sound level meter with a variety of measurement capabilities. One of the strongest features of the meter range is the digital output that is available for use with the user’s laptop or desktop computer. Every second the meter sends the A and C frequency weighted sound level values with the selected time response to the dB24 software that builds up a text file tagged with the actual date and time stamp for complete noise identification purposes. live display of noise levels with final data table Applications & Operation Regular data logging for noise investigation purposes Time history trending Hard copy for archive purposes Analysis of short duration significant events such as pile driving or aircraft flyovers Remove unwanted samples when it is not required to gather information Investigation of neighborhood noise nuisance complaints Unattended noise monitoring at inconvenient times of the day Provide input to official reports The CEL-24X sound level meter Page 1 of 2 20 Oct 2011 Cel-6842_brochure_201011 text output in tabular format to cut and paste into other documents CEL-6842 dB24 SOFTWARE PACKAGE OVERVIEW Downloading from the CEL-24X meters The CEL-242 and CEL-246 versions feature on board memory to store noise levels on site. Up to 100 separate runs can be saved each tagged with the date and start time of each run. In the CEL-246 the time average level Leq (Q5) or Lavg (Q5) can be saved at any of 1, 2 5 or 10 second intervals. A short header is also saved showing the individual meter serial number and the setup of the meter at the time run was started. An example is shown below. <CEL-242 Data> Version 035-07 <Run> 11/4/2009 Start 23:02 Duration 0:10:44 Serial Number 3691212 Run 2 Range 30-100 dB Overload No Battery Low No Interval Seconds 1 <Broadband> LAFmax 79.7 Header information stored in a run showing key details of the overall measurement. Casella Drive is a small utility that is installed and loaded in the background with dB24. After the CEL-242 or CEL-246 is connected with the CMC51 USB cable the Casella Drive utility automatically starts up and downloads the stored runs. The connected sound level meter is recognized automatically and Windows establishes a new drive allocation for it. Run data are translated into standard csv delimited text files in Casella Drive. The connected CEL-242 has been recognized and added as a new logical drive to the computer, in this case as drive letter H: Runs can be viewed in the properties window when drive H is selected in Windows Explorer. Double clicking on the run opens it in standard spreadsheet packages if this has been setup as the default action. Typical spreadsheet example programs are MS Excel and the equivalent Open Office version called Open Office Calc.
