Thomas Moore (5760) was born circa 1750. He married Isabella (moore) circa
1782, probably at Lonan. He was buried on the 9th of December, 1811, at Lonan

Isabella (moore) (528) was born circa 1756. She married Thomas Moore circa
1782. In 1841 she was living with her daughter and son-in-law at Ballacojeen,
Lonan, when her age was recorded as 80-4 years. She was buried at Lonan on the
15th of June, 1844, when her age was recorded as 88 years. See 13.3 for details of her
descendants.

In 1841 she was living with her family at Ballacojeen, Lonan. In 1851 she and her
husband were living at Laxey Hill, at which time she was described as “midwife”.
In 1861, a widow, she was living in Laxey Village and again described as “midwife:.
She was buried at Lonan on the 2nd of March, 1863. See Volume III, 21.6 for details
of her descendants.

Margaret Moore (5761) was baptized on the 28th of November, 1784, at Lonan.
She married John Kermode on the 21 of December, 1805, at Lonan. In 1841 she was
living at Ballajorey, Maughold with three of her unmarried children. She was
buried at Maughold on the 15th of October, 1849, when her age was recorded as 65
years.

Robert Moore—1787
13.5.1
Robert Moore (2009) was born circa 1787, probably in Arbory. He married
Esther Costean (Costain) circa 1815 (a marriage record has not yet been found). He
died on the 14th of July, 1876, at Ballacomish and was buried on the 17th of July at
Arbory. See 13.6 for details of his descendents.
He was a mason and farmed about 15 acres at Ballacomish, Arbory. The censuses of
1841–71 show him and his family living at Ballacomish. A Memorial Inscription at
Arbory records his death and that of his wife.

Esther Costain (2010) was born circa 1791, probably in Arbory. She married
Robert Moore circa 1815. She died on the 22nd of August, 1868, aged 77 (Memorial
Inscription at Arbroy). See 13.6 for details of her descendents.

In 1861 the family was living at Malew Road, Arbory. In 1871 the family was at
Ballavarkish, Arbory. In 1881 at Grenaby Road. A widow in 1891 the address ia
again Ballavarkish.

family were living at Ballabeg, Arbory, when he was employed as an agriculturla
labourer. In 1861 the family were living in Malew Road, Arbory. In 1871 the family
were living at 4, Billown, Malew.
The 1871 census shows two children that have not yet been identified: Ann aged 2
and Henry aged 9 months. Although they are recorded as daughter and son of
William and Jane this seems to be unlikely. They were probably illegitimate
grand–children. Ann may have been the niece to Ellen Collister nee Costain
recorded as 13 years in the 1881 census.

A shoemaker, in 1841 he was living at Ballacross, Arbory, with his first wife and an
unmarried daughter. In 1851 he and his second family were living at Ballacross,
Arbory.

on the 11th of Februayr, 1804, at Arbory. She was buried at Arbory on the 7th of

Thomas Moore (1450) was born circa 1555. He inherited the lands of Ballakilley
and Baldromma Moar. His Will of 1623 states, inter alia, “I sould my tytell in
Balldromma to my brother Philip to maynteyne my owne farme.” This sale is
believed to have taken place in 1577. No marriage has been traced. He died in 1623.

Philip Moore (1451) was born circa 1560. He bought Baldromma Moar from his
elder brother in 1577. He bought Ballameanagh Moar in 1584. He married Ellen
Lucas circa 1585. He died before 1609. See 13.2013.26 for details of his descendants.

Ellen Lucas (1452) was born circa 1560. She died in 1610. By a lawsuit in 1608
she recovered Ballameanagh Moar from her son Philip and granted it to her son John

Philip Moore (1453) was born circa 1580, in Lonan. He was possibly appointed
Parish Clerk of Lonan in 1610, which would indicated that he was born no later
than 1590. In 1643 he compounded for Ballakilley, i.e., he arranged a fixed sum of
money in lieu of tithes. William Norris, Vicar General and Vicar of Lonan,
confirmed that Philip “never paid tythes for B’killey”. So far a marriage has not
been found, but he is believed to have had at least one son.

BallaKilley and also the Cloven Stones, Garwick. He married Jaine Clague circa
1680. His Will of 28th of December, 1711, names his wife Jaine alias Clague, his
eldest daughter Ellinor, his daughter Catherine and his son Thomas. Jaine and
Catherine were appointed executors as the “other under age”. This seems to
indicate that at this time there were three surviving children.

She was buried at Lonan on the 4th of September, 1733.

daughter in her father’s Will of December, 1711. With her mother she inherited a
share of his moveable and immoveable effects. No further details available.

by her father in 1711, indicating she was at least twenty-one years old at that time.
She inherited two sheep weaning, a mutton and one heiffer. No further details
available.

Thomas Moore (1458) was born circa 1690 in Lonan. By his father’s Will of
December, 1711, he inherited “…part of the husbandry gears belonging to the farm
of Ballakilley.” and the Will seems to indicate that he was underage at that time. He
married Jane Clague. He was buried at Lonan on the 17th of March, 1774. No
further details available.

with six minor children, married James Caine (558) of Andreas at Kirk Braddan on
the 5th of January, 1819. The witnesses to the marriage were William Kelly and
Thomas Curphey. There were two children of the second marriage. William Caine
(559) born in 1819/20 and Joseph Caine (560) who was baptized on the 7th of
November, 1822.
