It’s that time of year: holiday shopping. Wouldn’t it be nice to know that as you shop for friends and family, you are supporting a great cause in your community? You can do just that this year in many different ways.

One way is to join people from all over the country on Giving Tuesday.
We have all heard of Black Friday and even Cyber Monday. Giving Tuesday lets us give thanks and give back to the nonprofits we care about,
the Tuesday after Thanksgiving. This year that day is December 3.

Sparkle Gala Will Return in 2014
The 2012 Holiday Sparkle Gala was a huge success. Sponsors, volunteers, and attendees all came together to support the clinic. The evening was full of wonderful food, music, and socializing and we are so
thankful for all who participated.

This has been a busy year for the clinic. We have moved into a new
building, are working on starting electronic health records, and have
many other new and exciting things planned. Because of these major
transitions, we will not be holding the Gala this year. But, stay tuned, as
the event will return in 2014 with even more sparkle!

The last week of October, we closed the doors to the original clinic building and moved to
our new facility on Valley Vista Drive. We are so grateful to Shenandoah Memorial Hospital for supporting us with 12 years use at the old site, and to the hearty band of volunteers and employees who helped us pack up, move, and unpack in less than a week!
On Friday, November 1, many supporters
gathered for a ribbon cutting at the new
location on Valley Vista Drive in Woodstock. Both Dr. Conrad Helsley, chairman
of the Shenandoah County Board of Supervisors, and Ellen Davis, state director
for rural development with U.S. Department of Agriculture, spoke to the cooperation of government entities and the strong
support from the local community that
made this dream come true.
The ribbon cutting cut to the heart of the
matter. “This ribbon symbolizes the gift of
health that members of this community
give to their neighbors through support of
this Clinic,” said Dr. Gregory Byrd, president of the board of directors for Shenandoah County Free Clinic and Shenandoah
Dental Clinic.

now provide SEVEN times more health
visits than in our first year of operation.
Our new facility provides us the ability to
offer more privacy and handicapped accessibility – and to grow to support even
more health care in our community. We
have already raised over $1.7 million of
our $2 million goal, and will be able to fully
equip the facility once we have raised the
rest.

Volunteers allow the clinic to provide $9 in services for every $1 we receive. Our volunteers give of their time and talents in many different ways from the physicians, pharmacists, and nurses who provide care and services to the individuals who do clerical work and complete other necessary tasks around the office. If you are interested in volunteering with the clinic please contact Terry Minnick at 459-1700.
