Sea Lions Swim Team Parents Update May 29, 2016 Team Website: sealionsswimteam.com Memorial Day Practice 9:00- 11:00 am. We will have a special practice time on Memorial Day Monday (5/30) 9-11. Note that the Mammoth pool will be open to the public from Noon – 3 pm with free admission on Memorial Day. Practice Tuesday – Friday 4:00 -6:00 pm : Our regular practice schedule will continue to be 4-6 pm. We encourage swimmers to attend as many practices as they can. June 4 Swim Meet in Parkside: Our first meet is less than a week away. Warm up will be 8:00 am and the meet will begin at 9:00 am. The pool is located at 3200 N Anthem Way, Florence AZ 85132. The first meet will involve San Tan Valley, Globe and Parkside. The Individual Medleys (and long Freestyle) will not be held at this first meet, so the first event will be the Medley Relay. Practicing, learning all the strokes, and being ready to swim many events is the key to extending our 9 year win streak. Let us know if you will not be attending the meet. Team suits will be handed out before the meet. During the Meet: Swimmers should enter all of the individual events that they are capable of completing. Coach Wendy will fill out time cards for swimmers 8 years old and younger. Swimmers 9 and older need to fill out their own time card for each individual race they enter. There will be blank time cards and pens available in the team area during the meet. Encourage your children to write legibly on the time cards so their name will be correct on any ribbons they may earn. If you need help filling out time cards, please ask any experienced swimmer or coach. The coaches will set the relay lineups and fill out the relay time cards. Experienced swimmers need to help the newer swimmers. Bring plenty of water to drink. Fruits are good snacks for kids to eat during the meet. League Rules, the order of events, and swimmers best times are posted on the team website. June 4 After the Meet: We expect the meet to end around 2 pm. Adjacent to the Parkside Pool is a waterpark with slides and other attractions. Last year everyone who stayed after the end of the meet had to have a wristband which required a signed waiver and a $3 fee. We will have the waiver attached to the parents letter and at practice during the week so everyone has a chance to read it. We will have everyone sign the wavier and collect the waterpark fee before or during the meet. T-shirts: Team T-shirts have arrived and will be handed out this week. There will be a second order for those who registered late or want additional t-shirts. Check with Stefanie Smallhouse or Bill Kellam if you want to order a t-shirt. Carpools: We are aware of a least 1 swimmer from San Manuel that will not be able to attend the meet on Saturday unless he can get a ride to the meet. Let us know if you have room in your car for an extra swimmer.
