This bulletin is being provided to you as a way of keeping you informed about some of
the opportunities available to you.
All senior career and scholarship information is sent to English classes to be distributed to
seniors. Seniors not having English will have the materials sent to them in A1/B1 classes
if at all possible. Any senior who is not receiving senior material is requested to see
Mr. Szwajkowski as soon as possible.

PH Senior Scholarship Application
The deadline for the Patrick Henry High School Scholarship application to be completed and returned is by 2:00 PM on Thursday, January 08,
2015. Applications received after that are ineligible for consideration for scholarship review by the PH scholarship committee. Applications are
to be turned in to Mr. Szwajkowski in the Career Center or to either Ms. Konrad or Mrs. Osborn in the School Counseling Center.
Wendy’s High School Heisman
For the past twenty years, Wendy's Restaurants have teamed up with the Heisman Memorial Trophy Committee to create the Wendy's High
School Heisman Award. The award honors both male and female high school students who excel in academics, athletics and student leadership. We want applications from both male and female student athletes who exhibit excellence in the classroom, on the playing field, and within their communities. Eligibility for application is limited exclusively to men and women whose senior year of high school is the 2014–2015
academic year, who have at least a “B” grade average, and participate in at least one of 27 sports. We want to hear from all student athletes
who work hard, are dedicated, and have become role models for underclassmen. All of this must be done prior to 5:00 p.m., central time,
October 3, 2014. Applicants should plan on submitting their application in September to allow time for the review. The reviewer must submit

Ron Brown Scholars Program
The Ron Brown Scholar Program seeks to identify African-American high school seniors who will make significant contributions to society. Applicants
must excel academically, exhibit exceptional leadership potential, participate in community service activities and demonstrate financial need. The applicant must be a US citizen or hold a permanent resident visa card. Applications are available at ww.ronbrown.org. Applications deadlines are November
1st & January 9th.
2015 Serve & Learn Scholarship
The Serve & Learn Scholarship is available for juniors who are interested in serving their community. It is a $1000 scholarship sponsored by
the Hanover Education Foundation and requires 100 hours of community service to be completed at one location beginning on or after November 1st 2013 during junior year and continuing if needed during senior year One scholarship will be awarded to a Patrick Henry student.

Wofford College
The Wofford Scholars Program provides scholarships up to a full scholarships for students who demonstrate qualities of scholarship, leadership
and potential for success. To qualify as a Wofford Scholar nominee, a student should be ranked in the top 10 percent of the class and have
achieved a combined score of 1250 (Critical Reading and Math) on the PSAT or SAT or a 28 on the ACT or PLAN. . Information is available at

2015 Horatio Alger Scholarship
The Horatio Alger Association seeks to assist students who have demonstrated integrity, perseverance in overcoming adversity, strength of
character, financial need, a good academic record, commitment to pursue a college education, and a desire to contribute to society. The scholarships range in value from $5000 to $20,000. Students may apply up to October 25th at www.horatioalger.org/scholarships.
QuestBridge
The QuestBridge National College Match is a college and scholarship application process that helps outstanding low-income high school seniors
gain admission and full four-year scholarships to the nation's most selective colleges. If you are a student who has achieved academic excellence
in the face of economic challenges, we encourage you to apply to the National College Match. QuestBridge's partner colleges offer generous
financial aid packages that cover 100% of demonstrated financial need, making them very affordable for low-income students. Information is

Georgian Southern University
Georgian Southern University Pay In-State Tuition Scholarship allows out-of-state residents to pay the in-state tuition. It is renewable for up to
four years and is valued at $6000 per semester. Students must earn a 3.0 cumulative GPA each semester to maintain this scholarship. Information is available at GeorgiaSouther.edu/AdmissionsScholarships.
Rensselaer STAR Program
Rensselaer invites academically talented seniors, who are underrepresented minorities or young women, to apply for the STAR (Science, Technology, Arts at Rensselaer) Program. Please share this information with your top students. An official high school transcript is required to complete the STAR application. You may submit an official transcript for your student via email to [email protected] , by fax to 518-276-6573, or by
postal mail to the attention of Michael E. Moore, Rensselaer Admissions, 110 8th Street, Troy, NY 12180 prior to the deadline date of September 27, 2014. Students accepted to participate in the STAR Program will receive a confirmation email from Rensselaer. STAR begins the evening
of Thursday, October 16, 2014 with a dinner reception and concludes Saturday, October 18, 2014 at the close of the Fall Open House. At the
end of the event, all participants will receive an official letter confirming their participation in the event. We always encourage the students to
show the letter to you and/or an attendance clerk so their absence is recognized as a n official college visit.Students may apply online at
https://apply-undergrad.rpi.edu/register/STAR2014appby September 27, 2014 to participate in the STAR Program.
We have been fortunate in previous years to have a limited number of travel grants available. That is still being determined
for this year's program. Considering we have had as many as 200 students participate in recent years, we cannot promise that
every student who applies will receive a travel grant. The travel grants are awarded based on need as well as merit. Requests
for assistance need to be made in the comment box on the STAR Program application. Once on campus, STAR participants’ meals
and other costs directly associated with attending the event are covered by our office. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions

Longwood University
Longwood University diversity Day Saturday, November 1, 2014 from 10 AM to 1PM. High school juniors and seniors will have the opportunity
to engage with Longwood students and staff to learn more about the admissions process and to experience the campus environment. Presentations from the Office of Admissions and the Office of Diversity and Inclusion will be followed by a campus tour. To arrange a visit contact Ashley

Infinite Scholars Program
The Richmond Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. and The Delta House Foundation, Inc. will present the eighth annual Infinite
Scholars Scholarship and College Admissions Fair for high school students in the Commonwealth of Virginia. This event will take place on Saturday, October 11, 2014, from 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. at the Greater Richmond Convention Center, 403 North Third Street, Richmond, VA,
23219. On October 11, 2014, participating students are required to bring: current high school transcripts (2.7 GPA or better); resume; ACT/
SAT scores (if available); a brief essay entitled, “Why I Want to Attend College;” and three letters of recommendation from school, church,
