Users need to provide their own drivers (aged 25-69) who are covered under the Council’s insurance scheme. Drivers do not need to hold the County Minibus Licence as they are able to drive the minibus under the terms of their own driving licence. All Groups/Clubs need to hold a Section 19 Permit. Application forms are available from the Council office and when completed sent direct to VOSA. This permit then belongs to each individual Group/Club and must be displayed in the minibus during their hire time. It is required to cover fees/subscriptions charged to passengers. The permit is valid for 5 years at a cost of approximately £15. Please note: In the event of an accident resulting in a claim on the Council’s insurance policy the driver or user group may become liable for a £150 excess charge. MINIBUS HIRE FEES Effective from 1st April 2012 If a user group wishes to hire the minibus for more than 3 calendar days consecutively, the charges will be as follows: £5 non-refundable Booking Fee Mileage charge £1 per mile (invoiced on return of report form) This rate is applicable to local organisations, both within the electoral parish of Ongar (Chipping Ongar, Greensted, Marden Ash and Shelley) and also for local organisations within a ten mile radius of the parish. In the event that journeys exceed the fuel reserve in the tank, drivers are required to refuel and present the receipt to the Council for reimbursement. Daily charge of £10 The minibus will have a full tank of diesel at the start of the hire period The user will return the minibus with a full tank of diesel. There will be no further charges levied. All new users will be required to lodge with the Council at £200 damage deposit cheque, which will be returned at the end of the hire period if no damage has been sustained. Regular users will also lodge a damage deposit cheque which will be returned after six months assuming no damage has been sustained. A replacement cheque should be lodged with the Council as before.
