Saying Goodbye to One of the Best
FAREWELL – Mrs. Nagle poses with some of her current 8th grade students.
By Lily Gustafson
Mrs. Nagle is an inspiring teacher that has always wanted the best for her students over the past 31 years of
her career. She teaches English/Language Arts for the 8th-grade Galaxy team here at Raynham Middle School. One
of her favorite units to teach, she said, is Literature. She said there are always “amazing conversations and debates in
her classroom when it comes to Literature.”
Alongside Literature and discussion, there have been several memorable moments over her teaching career.
One of her favorites is when she taught seventh grade, and they had a poetry reading and family buffet after to celebrate. This event was a favorite because it incorporated the community into classroom learning, she said.
One of Mrs. Nagle’s “funniest” moments took place at RMS. It was when she burnt popcorn and sent all the
students into the cold on a November day because she set off the fire alarm. The scent of burnt popcorn lingered
through the halls for days, she said!

In addition to her devoted teaching, Mrs. Nagle has
been in charge of a lot of activities and programs at RMS.
Those responsibilities have been passed down to a few
teachers that will make sure each job continues to get done,
Students
she said. One of Mrs. Nagle’s favorite events she has been
involved with is the Veteran’s Day assembly. She said she
wants to make sure that as we, the students, grow up, that
we realize how much the veterans have sacrificed for our
country everyday of our lives. She always encourages
family, friends, students, and staff to thank a veteran because one thing people take for granted is the freedom to
be an American.
Despite all of the programs Mrs. Nagle is involved with on a day-to-day basis at RMS, she said,
“Being in the classroom is one of the greatest times of my
day!”

her many years of teaching at a few different schools, Mrs.
Nagle said, “there has never been a bad year,” and because
of that, she’s always happy to see her old students.
“It melts my heart to see how grown up they are,”
she said.
In addition, Mrs. Nagle loves the environment and
family she has made here at RMS. It’s a “warm” feeling
every time she walks through the doors. And she’s happy
she has gotten to work with such amazing staff and students.
She said she will “absolutely” be back to visit.
When she leaves RMS, her plans are to continue
teaching college courses, and to do some volunteering at an
animal shelter and a hospital. In addition, she will have the
memories of the career she always wanted because all she
did was “follow her heart”.
She leaves big shoes to fill and has one piece of advice, “students want to learn, give them a chance.”
Thank you, Mrs. Nagle. We wish you nothing but

Explore Space this Spring
Lego robotics projects getting some use at a recent
meeting.
By Jeffrey LaBlue
This spring, the third year of the Lego Robotics Club will begin. The club has run each year and meets
for 10 weeks.
Mr. and Mrs. Leighton launched the club in 2015, and the students and teachers have enjoyed it ever
since.
Though this time, things will be far more...robotic! The club has been granted money for an expansion
set, so there will be twice the amount of pieces than the last two years. The club also got new sensor mats that
will sense if a robot does what it was programmed to do.
The theme of this spring is space exploration! The focus will be purely on programming, with very different challenges.
In the fall, the challenges were very competitive. But, this spring, it will be all about programming, and
cooperative challenges and teamwork to reach a common goal.
Listen to announcements, and look for the spring intramural sign-up sheets, to sign up for the Robotics
Club.

Boys and Girls Hoops Finish Strong
Members of the boys and girls basketball teams at
the recent student faculty basketball game. Both
teams had winning seasons this year.
The RMS faculty team won the
game in a thrilling defeat over
the students!
By Julia Newcomb
The RMS girls’ basketball team was a close, hardworking team. Although the team did not win the
league, it still had a strong season. Its final record was 10-4. This is thanks to the amazing coaching and
teammates who were always there to cheer the girls on. The team stayed strong and positive even through
the toughest of losses. The girls may have lost some games, but they learned from their mistakes and came
back more determined than ever.
The whole season was exciting and fun among this close-knit group. The team joked around and,
along with the RMS boys team, who also enjoyed a thrilling season finishing with a record of 11-3, even
challenged the faculty to a game. There was never a dull moment with these two teams. Both learned a lot,
practiced skills, and made new friends along the way. It was an awesome season of basketball.
