4. How can I check IMEI number of Alcatel phone?
You can check the IMEI information from the IMEI label which was sticked to the battery
jar, or by touching *#06# in dial keypad, or by going to main menu  “Settings”
“About phone” “Status”  “IMEI information”.
5. How can I check phone system version, Model Name, Android version, Baseboard
version, Kernel version?
You can check the information by accessing into menu  “Settings”  “About phone”.
6. How can I set automatic power on/ off time?

7. How can I change the font size of phone?
In Android 4.1, you can change the font size by accessing into menu-> “Settings” ->
“Display” -> “Font size” -> select a type you need.
8. How can I use screenshot?
Users can now share what's on their screens more easily by taking screenshots.
Hardware buttons let them snap a screenshot and store it locally. Afterward, they can
view, edit, and share the screen shot in Gallery or a similar app.
Please push power button and Volume down button at the same time for a couple of
seconds. You should then see an animation showing you the screenshot, and view the
screenshot by tapping on the thumbnail in the notification tray or by visiting your Gallery
application.

There are several improvements that Google has done to the Notification Bar in Android

 It can now be pulled down from the Lock Screen.

right.

You can turn off notifications from some applications.

Or you can touch-hold a notification to identify the application that created it and turn

You can add widgets, applications, shortcuts into the home screen or set your favorite
wallpaper.
13. How can I add new widgets or applications into home screen?

If you place a widget onto a icon or shortcut position of phone screen, they will automatically

14. How can I delete widgets or applications from the home screen?
Please press the application icon on home screen for about 2 seconds, the icon will then
become bigger and a trash can icon will appear at top of home screen. The application
will be deleted from the home screen if you drag the application icon to the trash can.
15. How can I reposition the widgets or applications in the home screen?
The method to reposition the widget or applications in android 4.1 is the same with that
in android 4.0.
Please touch and hold the icon on home screen, it will become movable, and then drag it
to the place you want.
16. How can I change the wallpaper?
Please touch and long press on home screen that’s not occupied, select a wallpaper
source from “Gallery/Live Wallpapers/ Wallpaper”, select a wallpaper as you like and
touch “Set wallpaper” at the bottom.
You can also set wallpaper by accessing menu-> “Settings” -> “Display” -> “Wallpaper”.
17. How can I set screen lock?
In order to protect your personal information, you can adjust your phone’s lock settings
by following steps. Please press “Menu” key at home screen  “Settings” → “Security”
→ “Set up screen lock” → Touch the type of lock you would like to use.
After you set a lock, a lock screen displays whenever your screen is waken up, requesting
pattern, PIN, or other specified key.
Here is a sample for pattern lock setting.
Take pattern for example.
Draw a pattern as you like, and then touch confirm to finish the setting.
Notes:
 Screen lock options are listed in the approximate order of the strength of their
security, starting with None and Slide, which provide no security.
 Face Unlock and Pattern provide minimal security, although they can be more
convenient than other patterns.
18. How can I set Face Unlock?
You can follow below steps to experience Face Unlock. Please press “Menu” key at home
screen  “Settings” → “Security” → “Set up screen lock” You need to confirm saved
pattern first, if you have set pattern as screen lock “Face Unlock”  “Set it up” 
“Continue”  Hold the phone at eye level about 30 centimeters far from your face until
you phone reads “Face captured”  Select an alternative lock for your phone if face
unlock can’t recognize you. Below take pattern as an example
The Face Unlock feature in ICS can be tricked with a photo. In Jelly Bean, it has been
enhanced with liveness check.
Please go to “Settings” → “Security” → “Liveness check”, check the box in the right
It requires eye blink while unlocking the phone to avoid the trick.
19. What can I do when I can’t use face unlock in darkness?
When you are in darkness, your phone can’t recognize your face. Please touch the
button on the top right corner of face detecting area to unlock your phone with the
alternative lock you picked before like pattern or PIN.
20. Why couldn’t I find face unlock in the setting options?
To access Face Unlock, you should be sure your device has front camera.
21. Why is face unlock button gray and disabled?
Face unlock is less secure than Pin, pattern and password. When you set a VPN, it needs
high security, then the “Face unlock”, “None” and “Slide” secure modes will be disabled.
22. What can I do with Google search?
Google Search is available from the top of any home screen.
With Google Search you can,
 Type Search terms: touch Google. As you type, suggestions appear below the Search
Box.
 Search for a suggestion immediately, touch it.
 The recommended result is displayed in a card with rich contents which links to
various services like Wikipedia, weather, Maps and pictures.
 It takes advantage of the “Knowledge Graph” introduced by Google.
 You can simply swipe the card away, then more search results on Google.com will be
shown normally as before.

23. What can I do with Google Now?
Google Now is a killer feature which also integrates with the new voice search in Jelly
Bean. It provides personalized preemptive information that the user might need by
accessing user’s search history, location history, and calendar, through which Google
knows more about the user.

interest. You can quickly jump to Google Maps to get more info, reviews, or even
make a reservation.

When you start your day, Google Now shows weather for your current location and

24. How can I create folders in the home screen?
You can organize your applications with folders. Please create a new folder on your
Home screen by dragging one application icon over another one, then two icons will be
combined and a folder will be created. You can drag more applications to the new folder.
You can rename the folder by touching it to open, and find “Unnamed Folder” at the
bottom. Please touch it to rename.
25. How can I resize the widget in the home screen?
Home screens in Android 4.1 are designed to be content-rich and customizable. You can
embed live application content directly through interactive widgets. Widgets let users
check email, flip through a calendar, play music, check social streams, and more.
Widgets are resizable, so you can expand them to show more content or shrink them to
save space.
 Touch and hold the widget that to be resized until you see the resize lines appear
 Drag a corner or side to resize the widget
 Tap a blank area on the home screen to save your changes.
Note: not all the widgets are resizable. And not all phones have the ability to resize

26. How can I set speed dial in Alcatel Phone?
There are 2 ways to set speed dial.
Way 1: Please touch “Phone” application touch menu icon in the right bottom (the

31. How can I silence the ringer of incoming calls?
There are 2 ways to silence the ringer before answering the call.
Way1: Press the Volume Up/Down button on the side of your device.
Way2：Enable Gesture function by going to menu-> “Settings”-> “Gestures” -> activate
“Turn over to mute”, then you can mute incoming calls by turning the phone over when
a call is coming.
32. How can I hold and answer another call?
During a call, you can use some buttons near the bottom of the screen

 Choose the one you want to copy contacts from, and then touch the button “Next”

If you have a Google Account, any contacts associated with that account are
automatically backed up by Google. This means all of your contacts are always available
on the web and can be synced to any Android phone which’s set up with the same
account.
It means your contacts are always available even if you lose your phone, switch to a new
phone or use a desktop computer.
To get your phone numbers and contacts information to your Google Account, you have
several options.
a. Import your contacts directly into your Google Account.
 Install the SIM card with your contacts on it in your new phone
 Touch “People” app
 Touch Menu icon

phones), then a menu appears

 Touch “Audio profiles” under “DEVICE”.
You will see four types of Predefined profiles, General, Silent, Meeting, Outdoor.

To turn Vibrate on or off easily for incoming calls, you can follow below methods.
 Method 1: To activate Vibrate, press the Volume key down until you feel the phone
vibrate.
To resume normal ringtone, press the Volume key up.
 Method 2: To activate Vibrate from Notification Bar. Swipe down the Notification Bar
and touch “Meeting” icon in the top. Vibrate is default for meeting mode.
46. How can I change ringtone for individual contacts?
Please follow below steps to adjust ringtone for an individual caller.
 Touch and go that person’s contact card in the “People” app

You can follow below 2 ways to delete a message.
Way1:
 Open a message you want to delete.

bottom right corner and select a message which you want to delete.
You can follow below steps to delete a conversation.
 Touch to open the “Messaging” app, you will see all the conversation list
 Touch and hold a conversation that you want to delete until a trash can icon appears
in the bottom of screen.
 If you want to delete more conversations, you can touch them to choose

Note: To delete all conversations, you can touch Menu icon

52. How can I change the input method?
There are 2 ways to change the input methods.
Way1:
 Touch “Settings” icon from home screen or under main menu.
 Touch “Language & input” under “PERSONAL”.
 Touch to choose the input method you want.
Way 2：
In message editing screen, drag down the notifications bar, and then change input
method.
53. What is APK?
APK (Android Package) file is the installation file for Android phone, which can be
downloaded from Google Market or other websites. It can customize user experience
including game/system management/skin/desk photo/books etc. Please note that not
all APKs can be applicable to Alcatel Android phones due to compatibility limitation.
54. How can I download and install applications?
The Play Store is the primary way of finding and installing applications on your Android
phone. You can use USB to connect PC to download and install applications or download
and install applications from Play Store
on the phone.
It is suggested to download and install applications from the Play Store due to security
issue. But if you want to install apps from third-party, please go to menu “Settings” 
“Security” activate “Unknown Sources”.
Note: Please be aware that there is additional risk with the unknown sources option box
checked.
55. How can I uninstall applications?
To uninstall applications becomes easier in android 4.1.
Way 1. Uninstall application from under main menu.

56. How can I switch to recent used applications?
Android is inherently capable of multitasking, and has a sophisticated mechanism for
deciding which applications should be kept running in the background, and which should
be killed to conserve system resources.
 You can check recent used applications very easily. Just touch
in the bottom
right corner of screen, recent used applications appear.
 When you open up the app draw, you can easily switch between the apps that are
running with just a tap of your finger.
 Also ,you can drag left or right with your finger to kill the task
57. How can I connect to mobile network?
It depends on your carrier and service plan; your phone may connect automatically to
your carrier’s available data network. Or you may need to insert a SIM card or configure
details for a specific carrier.
Usually, your mobile network settings allow you to adjust several aspects of the ways
your phone uses mobile data.
 Touch “Settings” icon from home screen or under main menu
 Touch “More” under “Wireless & Networks”
 Then touch “Mobile Networks”
 Touch Network operators and select manually to choose an available network
 After this, user should create/select a correct APN from “Access Point Names”.
Note: Please swipe down the notification bar and touch
to turn on the data
access; you can’t adjust mobile network settings when Airplane mode is selected.
58. How can I connect to Wi-Fi networks?
Wi-Fi is a wireless networking technology that can provide internet access at distances of
up to 100 meters, depending on the Wi-Fi router and your surroundings.
To use Wi-Fi, you need to connect to a wireless access point, or “hotspot”. Some
hotspots are open and you can connect to them easily. But others implement security
features which require other more steps to set up, like, digital certifications, passwords
or other ways to ensure that only authorized users to connect.
