GRADES 5-6 or 7-9 EXTENSION
Certified teachers who seek the certificate extension to Grades
5-6 or 7-9 can fulfill the NYS-mandated pedagogical
requirements through the NYSUT Education & Learning Trust.

These courses fulfill the 6 semester hours required in Early Adolescent Development and
Instructional Strategies in Middle Childhood Education. Individuals pursuing the Grade 7-9
extension may have to complete additional course work and a Content Specialist Test.
