Myths of Eros EROS, APOLLO AND DAPHNE Eros, Apollo and Daphne Taunting After slaying Python, the terror of the people, Apollo encounters Eros playing with his bow and arrows Feeling thrilled about his victory over Python, Apollo taunts Eros, telling him that he is not worthy of the bow and arrow Angry, Eros shoots one arrow towards Apollo and another towards the beautiful mountain nymph, Daphne (Bulfinch chapter 3) Eros, Apollo and Daphne Unreturned love Apollo fell madly in love with Daphne; however, she did not return his love for she was dedicated to the path of the chaste goddess Artemis, shunning all males and focusing on the hunt Apollo followed Daphne and pestered her about his love but Daphne still did not return his love and fled Eros, Apollo and Daphne The change Feeling impatient due to failed attempts of obtaining Daphne’s love, Apollo decided to kidnap her Apollo dashed at her and picked her up flying towards Olympus Daphne being frightened and not wanting to go with Apollo, called out to her father, the river god, and asked him to change her into a form that can get her free Daphne then suddenly changes into a laurel tree Apollo, angered, announced that since she wont return his love, no one else can receive her love. Apollo then decided to keep Daphne as his own tree and was to wear her as his crown where she wont ever age. (Bulfinch) Daphne had no choice but to agree and follow
