Duke Energy Carolinas:
Duke Energy Kentucky:
Duke Energy Carolinas generates,
transmits, distributes and sells electricity
in central and western North Carolina
and western South Carolina. Duke Energy
Carolinas’ service area covers 24,000
square miles and supplies electric service
to 2.4 million residential, commercial
and industrial customers.
Duke Energy Kentucky’s operations
provide approximately 1,000
megawatts of owned electric capacity
to approximately 140,000 customers.
The company also provides natural
gas service to approximately 100,000
customers in Northern Kentucky.
Duke Energy Florida:
Duke Energy Progress:
Duke Energy Progress’ service area
covers approximately 34,000 square
miles, including a substantial portion
of the coastal plain of North Carolina
extending from the Piedmont to the
Atlantic coast between the Pamlico River
and the South Carolina border, the lower
Piedmont section of North Carolina, an
area in western North Carolina in and
around the city of Asheville and an area
in the northeastern portion of South
Carolina. Duke Energy Progress provides
electric services to approximately 1.5
million residential, commercial and
industrial customers.
Duke Energy Indiana:
Duke Energy Indiana generates, transmits
and distributes electricity in central, north
central, and southern Indiana. Its service
area covers 23,000 square miles.
Duke Energy Indiana supplies electric
service to 790,000 residential,
commercial and industrial customers.
Duke Energy Ohio:
Duke Energy Ohio’s Franchised Electric
and Gas service area covers 3,000
square miles and supplies electric service
to 690,000 residential, commercial
and industrial customers and provides
regulated transmission and distribution
services for natural gas to approximately
400,000 customers.
Duke Energy Florida’s service area covers
approximately 20,000 square miles in
west-central Florida, and includes the
densely populated areas around Orlando,
as well as the cities of St. Petersburg
and Clearwater. Duke Energy Florida is
interconnected with 22 municipal and
nine rural electric cooperative systems.
Duke Energy Florida provides electric
services to approximately 1.7 million
residential, commercial and industrial

Duke Energy Renewables, part of

The company’s growing portfolio of
commercial renewable assets includes
15 wind farms and 14 solar farms in
operation in nine states, totaling more
than 1,700 megawatts in electricgenerating capacity (including 440
megawatts from equity investments).

International:
Commercial Power:
Commercial Power owns, operates and
manages power plants and engages
in the wholesale marketing and
procurement of electric power, fuel and
emission allowances related to these
plants as well as other contractual
positions. Commercial Power’s generation
operations, excluding renewable energy
generation assets, consist primarily of
coal-fired and gas-fired nonregulated
generation assets which are dispatched
into wholesale markets. These assets are
composed of 6,848 net megawatts of
power generation primarily located in the
Midwestern U.S. The asset portfolio has
a diversified fuel mix with baseload and
mid-merit coal-fired units as well
as combined-cycle and peaking natural
gas-fired units.
Commercial Power also has a retail sales
subsidiary, Duke Energy Retail, which is
certified by the PUCO as a Competitive
Retail Electric Supplier (CRES) provider

International Energy principally targets
power generation in Latin America.
Additionally, International Energy owns
a 25 percent interest in National
Methanol Company (NMC), a large
regional producer of methanol and
methyl tertiary butyl ether (MTBE)
located in Saudi Arabia.
International Energy’s customers include
retail distributors, electric utilities,
independent power producers, marketers
and industrial/commercial companies.
International Energy’s current strategy
is focused on optimizing the value of
its current Latin American portfolio
and expanding the portfolio through
investment in generation opportunities
in Latin America.
