Mecatina School will be welcoming five musicians from Montreal at the school this
February18th&19th.Thesefiveartistshavestudiedinavarietyofcollegesanduniversities
in Quebec and Ontario. They also perform a variety of musical styles such as rock, R & B,
jazz,funk,classicalandgospel.
Wewillbeorganizingahostofactivitiesduringtheirpresenceinourschool.Studentsofall
schoolsarewelcometojoinus.Hereisalistofwhatwillbehappening:
Thursday,Feb.18th-1:30-3:00-MeetandGreet
Where:MecatinaSchoolgymnasium
Who:AllstaffandstudentsofMecatinaSchool;communitymembers;opentoothersfrom
othercommunities.
What:Bandmemberswillintroducethemselves,talkabouttheirmusicalbackground,info
abouttheirbands,recentendeavours,questionperiod.
Friday,Feb.19th-9:30-12:00-Musicworkshops
Where:MecatinaSchoolVCNroomandvariousclassrooms
Who: Elementary and secondary students and anyone with an interest in music or music
studies.
What:Musicianswillholdworkshopsaccordingtotheirinstrumentofspecialty.Theywill
takethisopportunitytoteachothersabouttheirinstrument.Studentsandvisitorswillhave
a chance to visit each workshop and will be able to play the instrument. There will be a
questionperiod.

What: Staff, students and community members will have the opportunity to hear/see the
bandperform.

Who:SecondarystudentsofanglophoneandfrancophoneschoolsoftheCSL.
What:Bandmemberswillintroducethemselves,talkabouttheirmusicalbackgroundsand
education,discussthedifferentpathswheremusiccanleadyou,talkaboutmusicrelated
careers,theirrecentendeavours,andwilltakepartinaquestionperiod.Theywillalsodo
musicdemonstrationswithavarietyofinstruments.
