Salient Features
SCOPE
The Tenderer shall quote for the scope specified in the Contract including the
“Schedule of Requirements” and shall include in the scope all the equipment and
services required for the project in full and complete shape even though some of
the equipment and services are not specifically mentioned (or) detailed here or
elsewhere so that the units and auxiliaries are functionally complete in all respects.
The Contractor shall perform all such work and/or supply all such items and
materials not specifically mentioned in the Contract but that can be reasonably
inferred from the Contract, as being required for attaining completion of the project,
as if such work and/or items and materials were expressly mentioned in the
Contract.
Bids are invited for 3 Nos. Machines capable of generating 40,000 kW each at
Generator terminals under rated conditions and should have continuous
inherent overload capacity of 15%
The Goods and Services shall meet the stipulations of the Technical Specifications
and other requirements of the Contract.
The final destination for "Goods" to reach is:
Likhu IV Hydro-electric Project (LIVHEP), located on the Likhu River, which
borders Okhaldhunga (left bank) and Ramechap (right bank) Districts in eastern
Nepal.

Power House
The surface powerhouse has a size of 81.9 m x 30.0 m (L x B) to house three 40.0 MW
vertical Francis turbine/generator units, spaced at 15.7 meters. A service bay of size 20
m x 17.95 m (L x B) has been provided adjacent to the power house. The control room,
office and battery room are accommodated opposite of the service bay. Transformer hall
of size 65.75 m x 11.5 m and GIS building size 26.375 m x 11.5 m has been provided on
downstream side of powerhouse with. The draft tube gates, tail pool and tailrace
structure are provided to pass the discharge back to the Likhu River from the power
house.
Plant & Machinery
Hydraulic Turbine
Three Francis turbines (vertical axis), each with unit output of 40 MW are selected for
rated net head 232.0 m and rated design discharge of 20 m3/s. The speed of turbines is
fixed at 375 rpm.

The Generator will be vertical shaft synchronous machine with umbrella type bearing
arrangement capable of giving maximum
output of 46 MW (51.12 MVA) having
rotational speed of 375 rpm to match with that of the turbine. Generator parameters are

Generator Transformers
Ten nos.18.5 MVA 11/ (220/√3) kV single phase step - up Power Transformers will be
installed with one as spare.
Each of three generators will be directly connected to a bank of 3 x 18.5 MVA single
phase transformers forming a three phase step up generator-transformer. Each main
power transformer unit comprise of 3 single phase, oil immersed outdoor type and
OFWF cooling type transformers.
1.2
TRANSPORT LIMITATIONS
The equipment shall be manufactured and supplied so as to suite transport
limitations of 40 T including Trailor weight for heaviest package and 3.2 m (W) x
4.8 m (H) including trailor height X 8.5 m(L) including tractor trailer.
INTERCHANGEABILITY
All similar component parts of similar equipment supplied shall be interchangeable
with one another.

Salient Features
DEVIATIONS FROM SPECIFICATIONS
Should the Tenderer wish to depart from these specifications, he shall submit a
complete and itemized list of such departures together with full particulars of the
reasons for the departures in a separate schedule with reference to section and
paragraph numbers of these tender specifications along with this Bid.
ii) Unless this is done the Goods offered shall be deemed to comply in every respect
with this Bid document. The statement of departures shall be made as a separate
Schedule to the Tender.
1.4
i)
APPROVAL OF DRAWINGS
Successful Tenderer shall start submitting all relevant drawings (both hard & soft
copies) for fabrication/ installation along with design calculations of components of
E & M equipment within 4 weeks from the issuance of Notification of award of
contract, for approval. The approval of the drawings shall be accorded within 2
weeks of receipt of the drawings.
After approval of the drawing by the
Employer/Engineer, each drawing becomes contract drawing and such 6 copies
of approved drawings shall be sent. Within 1 week of receipt of approval to
commence manufacture of the Goods. The Contractor shall not depart from
contract drawings except by the written permission of the Employer/Engineer.
ii) Any manufacture performed prior to the approval of drawings will be at the
Contractor’s risk.
iii) When revised drawings are submitted for approval, the changes from the previous
submitted drawings shall be clearly identified on the drawings, with every revision
made during the life time of the Contract shown by number, date and subject in a
revision block and its notation shall be given in the drawing margin. The drawings
shall be clear and legible in all respects.
iv) The drawings shall be clear, facilitating easy identification of all parts with part
number for ordering of spares by the Employer without referring to Contractor.

Salient Features
v) Approval of the drawings will not relieve the Contractor of his responsibility for the
correctness of the design and construction of the plant, guarantees and
warrantees on the performance of the Goods as per the terms and conditions of
the specifications.
vi) All drawings must be prepared on AutoCAD2002 and supplied in floppy / CD also
along with six blue prints for each drawing.

TRAINING OF EMPLOYER PERSONNEL
The contractor shall give training to the Employer personnel in full extend for
complete practical training for operation and maintenance, repair of equipment at
its works as well as site also.
