Master Gardener NEW Training
Are you interested in learning about Master Gardeners. We are looking at the possibility of starting our own classes. If you are
interested you can call Joanne Elliott at 608-584-5216.
Detailed below is the information on the NEW Class training.

36 hours of training must be completed.

To able to be certified participants must pass a final test.

There are 19 topics that sessions can be done from.

The “NEW” plan is that each topic will include an online VIDEO presentation, and a WORKSHOP session done as a group.

The video session can be completed online at home, or as a group at a central location.

The workshop is a group session that illustrates the material in the video, and gives practical “hands on experience”.

Workshop sessions are all planned out and have instructions on what is to be done.

Workshop Leaders do not have to be “experts”. Anyone with knowledge of the topic can lead a workshop. (there will be
practice sessions before the course begins).

SCHOLARSHIP NEWS
The Adams County Master Gardeners received 3 applications for scholarships this year. We were able to
award each of them a $500.00 scholarship which will be sent to the schools they are or will be attending.
The recipients this year are:


Nick Theisen who is also majoring in soil and Crop Science and attending UW-Platteville

Garrett Bork who is majoring in Agribusiness/Science & will be attending Fox Valley Technical College
These scholarships are available because of the support of our members, and their support of our fund

Please help us continue this outstanding event with your support. Thank you.

ACMGA - BOARD MEETING MINUTES
May 10, 2016
Called to order at 9:33AM.
Board Members present include: Joanne Elliott, Carole Dziegielewski, Cynthia Snyder, Betty Conrad, Donna Bruno and Della
Julseth. Others present were Mary Anne Keul.
April Minutes reviewed and approved.
April Treasurer’s Report reviewed and approved.
April WIMGA Report was given by Della in Mike’s absence. See New Business.
OLD BUSINESS:
Due to office term endings, we will need to elect a Vice-President and Secretary at the 2016 Annual Meeting, in accordance with
our Bi-Laws. We will also elect a replacement Treasurer as well as new Board members.
Betty Conrad reports she may not be able to attend the May 31 Hospital Planting due to family illness. If possible, she will begin
earlier in the month. Cyndee, Della and Carole volunteer to help with this event as need arise.
We were not able to clean flagpole area due to inclement weather.
We plan on doing Hospital flowers on May 31. We will do Community Center planters on June 1st. Cyndee pointed out that the
planters are being used as ashtrays and could we post signage to help prevent detriment to our efforts. Following Community
Center planters, we will go to the Fairgrounds to plant there; we will purchase these plants from Ace Hardware.
NEW BUSINESS:
Mary Anne Kuel spoke for Scholarship Committee. Cyndee received information from one of the recipients who will not attend the
Award ceremony due to work. Cyndee will be in touch with Sandy Euclide to conclude Scholarship efforts.
Mary Anne spoke of brat-fry dates and shift times. She still needs several volunteers to ensure success as this is anticipated to be a
busy day.
WIMGA is requiring us to provide a list of our involvement in our community. We need to get definition of current activities and be
thorough. This affects funding from the state level. Mike Hartz should have more info on the needs and process.
Della Julseth motioned to adjourn meeting at 10:25 am. Motion seconded, all say yea.
Respectfully submitted by Cynthia Snyder, Temporary Secretary, Board Member.
