Annual EEO Public File Report
The purpose of this EEO Public File Report is to comply with Section 73.2080(C)(6) of
the FCC’s 2002 EEO Rule. This Report has been prepared on behalf of the Station
Employment Unit that is comprised of the following stations: KESQ-TV, KUNA-LP,
KUNA-FM, KDFX-CA, KESQ-AM, KCWQ-LD, KPSP-CD and KYAV-LD is required to
be placed in the public inspection files of these stations, and posted on the station’s
website.
The information contained in this report covers the time period beginning
August 1, 2015 to and including July 31, 2016.
The FCC’s 2002 EEO Rule requires that this Report contain the following information:
1. A list of all full time vacancies filled by the station(s) comprising the Station
Employment Unit during the Applicable period.
2. For each such vacancy, the recruitment source(s) utilized to fill the vacancy
(including if applicable, organizations entitled to notification pursuant to Section
73.2080(c)(1)(ii) of the new EEO Rule, which should be separately identified), identified
by name, address, contact person and e-mail.
3. The recruitment source that referred the hiree for each full time vacancy during the
Applicable Period.
4. Data reflecting the total number of persons interviewed for full-time vacancies during
the Applicable Period and the total number of interviewees referred by each recruitment
source utilized in connection with such vacancies.
5. A list and brief description of the initiatives undertaken pursuant to Section
73.2080(c)(2) of the FCC rules.

They interviewed more than 40 candidates for news positions at KESQ, CBS Local 2 and KUNA in Thousand Palms. The Career Fair is sponsored by the NAB Education Foundation and Broadcast Education Association. The Career Fair is an opportunity to meet and interview qualified broadcast industry candidates. Career Day is also an initiative to increase diversity in broadcasting. Brief description of activity and station participation: David Gonzalez shared an incredible experience he had at Cesar Chavez School in Coachella. David was contacted earlier this month, by school officials at the institution to share his academic journey/career with the school. During the 15 minute sessions, he joined other professionals in the valley and discussed the importance of defining a career at an early age and walked them through a ‘Day in a Life of a Journalist’. Certainly, by speaking to the students also enabled him to encourage them to pursue a higher education and hopefully persuade a few of them to join the KESQ family in the future. Date of station participation: February 2nd 2016 Participating employees: Manny Cervantes, Director of Hispanic Sales Host/Sponsor of activity: Eleanor Roosevelt School Corona Norco Unified School District Brief description of activity and station participation: Our Hispanic Sales Director was invited to be a guest speaker at a Career Day at Eleanor Roosevelt High School within the Corona Norco Unified School District. He spoke to students who are enrolled in the Dual language Immersion Program. This program educates students in learning Spanish and English in a proficient manner. His task was to inform the students of the benefits in bilingualism within the Broadcast Media Industry and their professional environment. Date of station participation: February 26, 2016 Participating employees: Kristen Kirkjan Host/Sponsor of activity: Girlfriend Factor/Toscana‐Club Cabanna Brief description of activity and station participation: Kristen Kirkjan attended a fundraiser for
the Girl Friend Factor. They raised over $300,000.00. The Girl Friend Factor is a group that believes education is the key to economic advancement and self‐sufficiency among woman and that women can accomplish anything they set their minds to when they have the support and encouragement of their girlfriends. Their motto is: If you want to change the world educate a woman. It was inspiring and heartwarming. The stories these girls told their mentors would tear at your heart…and lift you up at the same time. Bianca Rae has managed to find an untapped need in our valley. These children needed this and Bianca and her team delivered big time. The Rae of Hope Retreat is inspiring our youth in career opportunities in the future, branding for our next generation of news viewers and inspiring our youth in our community to be better people. Gulf California was one of the main sponsors of the event and provided broadcast airtime. Mike Stutz accepted an award from the expo for our
station’s outstanding work.
