Parent/Guardian Handbook
REVISED OCTOBER 10, 2014
Parent/Guardian Handbook
Vision
Fathom Church exists to glorify God by making disciples.
Fathom Kids partners with parents to disciple kids.
Communication Policy
Fathom Kids’ primary means of communicating will be via email
([email protected]) and our website (fathomlittleton.org). We will use email to
communicate weekly happenings and updates on our Fathom Kids program. However,
please understand email is not always best for communicating. If you have questions
or concerns we would highly encourage you to schedule an appointment or phone
conference with the Fathom Kids director.
Curriculum
Fathom Kids will be using The Gospel Project for classroom curriculum for our
first year. The Gospel Project fits our current needs during this initial growing process.
The Gospel Project is an ongoing curriculum for Sunday School and small groups that
look at the gospel of Jesus and how all Scripture points to His redemptive work. Each
week these stories come to life though video, music, activities, and more! Please feel
free to visit gospelproject.com to learn more.
Just as God has created us all to look different, He has created us to all learn
differently. Fathom Kids recognizes the many different learning styles and struggles
children may have. Our desire is to accommodate to your child and their exact needs.
Children need to have the proper accommodations in order to feel safe in the learning
environment. Please communicate any concerns with Fathom Kids director and or
leaders. This specific information will only be shared on a need to know basis. This
information will be kept confidential.
Classroom Policies and Procedures
Parents or guardians are required to check their child into the appropriate room.
Be diligent in making sure your child is wearing their nametag. This is a safety issue. It
also helps volunteers remember names and keep track of any allergies they need to be
aware of. Please be mindful to supply enough diapers, pull ups, and or wet wipes in
your diaper bag. We will have an emergency supply available if needed.
Fathom Kids understands how important routine is for children. We will do our
best to stick to the same structure and flow for class. Please understand there will
special occasions where the flow of class looks different. The Fathom Kids director will
let you know in advance of potential changes. A Fathom Kids class schedule looks like
this:
• Welcome and Session Starter
• Transition to Bible Story Time
• Bible Story and Whole Group Discussion
• Transition to Small Groups
• Small Group Activity Time
• Snack and Transition for Pick up
Fathom Kids has a set of guidelines and expectations for children to follow.
Having these guidelines will help teachers and children as they are working together
and learning. We want to partner with parents as we help shape and mold the next
generation of leaders.
Guideline of Fathom Kids Rules:
• Be kind in my actions and words
• Obey the first time
• Listen with my ears
• Keep mouth quiet when some else is talking
• Keep hands, feet, and objects to yourself
• Be a great friend
Illness Policy
Please keep your child home if he or she exhibits any of the following symptoms:
• Fever greater then 100.5
• Rash with fever
• Discharge from eyes or nose
• Sore throat
• Severe cough
• Vomiting
• Diarrhea
• On antibiotics and are still contagious
(Child must be on antibiotics for 24 hours and fever free)
Your child should remain home until symptoms have not been present for 24
hours. Please be mindful if your child had a fever of 100 degrees or greater they must
be fever free without medication such as Tylenol or Motrin for 24 hour before
returning.
Please notify Fathom Kids director if your child may have accidentally exposed
others to an illness such as a cold, influenza, or strep throat while at church. We want to
take the appropriate measures to assure no further illness is spread.
Continue to encourage your child to practice healthy habits of washing hands
properly, coughing into arm not hands, and how to correctly blow/wipe his or her nose.
Healthy habits help keep our kids healthy and happy.
Volunteer Training and Screening
All volunteers working with children at Fathom Church Littleton will be required
to fill out an application and submit paper work to have a background check
completed. Each volunteer will complete an initial training for working with children.
The Fathom Kids director will have trainings for volunteers as needed. If you have any
questions about this process please contact Fathom Kids director.
