you will need:
3/4 cup (12 tablespoons) softened butter
1 large egg
to make cutout cookies
1. beat butter until light and fluffy. Add egg and 1 cup
of mix, and beat until fluffy. Add remaining mix and
stir until well incorporated. Divide dough in half and
form into a disk. Wrap and refrigerate for 1 hour or
longer.
2. working with one piece of dough at a time, flour
both sides of the dough. Roll 1/8" to 1/4" thick. Cut
into desired shapes, and use spatula to transfer cookies
to lightly greased or parchment-lined baking sheets.
3. bake cookies in preheated 350°F oven for 10 to
12 minutes, or until lightly browned around the edges.
Remove from oven, and cool completely on a rack.

crisp cookies, or up to 1/2" for thicker, chewier cookies.
