Message from the President
O
ur association has continued to grow
strongly in the first half-year. We now have
over 100 members mainly in three countries:
France, Germany and Spain. In these three
countries we run individual projects, and this
year will reach our target of 20 projects. At the
same time, under the supervision of GIFAS,
we began an ambitious collective project earlier this year,
"Performances Industrielles", involving 470 French companies
(70 medium to large companies and 400 SME/VSE).
We also continue to deploy our training offer in our three
reference countries as well as Morocco and Tunisia.
At our last Annual General Meeting, we presented four awards
(for individual projects) that perfectly illustrate the dynamic
progress of our associate members who we support with our
action.
In the second half-year we will continue our deployment in our
three areas: individual projects, group projects and training.

SPACE ANNUAL General MEETING
On May 14, about 70 members of SPACE France, Germany and Spain were warmly received at the
Liebherr Aerospace facility in Toulouse for the Annual General Meeting. After a buffet lunch, the successive
presentations provided opportunities for constructive discussion: The collaborative approach at Liebherr's by
Mathieu Tournier; Supply chain optimization at Thales by Denis Meekel; Aero Dinamic (SPACE project in Pays
de Loire region) by Christophe Cabaret; "Performances Industrielles" (Industrial Performance) a Gifas / Space
project by Eric Fanio. (see article on page 3). The afternoon ended with a visit to the Liebherr factory.
SPACE "Improvement Award" for ACTIA, CMA, TRIUMPH, 3DICOM: The best industrial
improvement projects for 2013 were awarded by SPACE at the Annual General Meeting in
France and at the ILA Berlin Air Show in Germany.

Bricks of Industrial Maturity: a tool to drive improvement
A Bricks of Industrial Maturity tool is used in the "Performances
Industrielles" project to measure and improve the maturity and per-
formance of the SME.
There are 43 bricks in 4 functional areas (MRP2, LEAN, QUALITY, AND
SUPPLIER MANAGEMENT). The bricks are classified according to 4
levels of maturity : FOUNDATION, BASIC , MATURE and EXCELLENCE. The effective presence of the ways of working described by the
bricks is reviewed by the Consultant with the SME during a diagnostic.
This analysis is used to define an action plan, the principle objective
being to implement at least the FOUNDATION levels bricks in all four
functional areas of the SME.
The consultant and the SME agree ACTUAL and TO BE values, not
only for each brick, but also for on-time and quality indicators, and an
action plan and a training schedule are defined to deliver these targets. These elements are documented in the form of an Industrial Maturity and Performance Improvement Plan (PAMPI) which is signed by
the SME, the Consultant, and SPACE.
One key issue is for the SME
uilding Excellence
to engage enough resource to
support the action plan : a first
from
demonstration of load and casolid foundations
pacity planning!

DEPLOYMENT
SPACE DEPLOYMENT IN SPAIN
The Space Spain project is having a great response from the Spanish aerospace companies, which currently
has 14 members and 11 associated companies interested in it.
Being one of those companies, a Portuguese company.
There are also two more companies interested in becoming Executive Member and one cluster to be Honorary
Member.
At the beginning of June, there was a DMAIC training imparted by Space to the experts of the Executive
Members.
