Please read regularly with your child from a whole range of reading materials. Please ask your child questions about what they have read to check their understanding. Reading books will continue to come home on a weekly basis. Identify and describe the properties of 2D shapes, including the number of sides and line symmetry in a vertical line Identify and describe the properties of 3D shapes, including the number of edges, vertices and faces Identify 2D shapes on the surfaces of 3D shapes ( for example, a circle on a cylinder and a triangle on a pyramid) Compare and sort common 2D and 3D shapes and everyday objects Mathematics Talk about the weekly topics that are detailed for each week Ask simple problem questions about using number in real life e.g. shopping with money using measuring during cooking e.g. grams, milliliters • Encourage the children to tell the time using an analogue and digital clock and to be aware of the passing of time e.g. seasons. Other homework will be sent for you to share with your child in their ‘Learning Log’. Please encourage and help them with this then return it to school. If you are unsure what to do with the ‘Learning Log’ on any particular week – PLEASE ASK. Some Key Questions: Can you name the different body parts? Can you name any bones? What are the 4 different types of teeth + what are their jobs? What do you need to keep healthy? What different foods help to make a healthy meal? How do we get our food? Where does an … (apple) come from? What do you enjoy doing e.g. swimming, cycling etc? Why is Black History Month Celebrated around the world? Why is Harvest celebrated? How was life different in the past?
