frequency /tricky words and spellings that
they bring home each week.
Please read regularly with your child from a
whole range of reading materials. Please ask
your child questions about what they have
read to check their understanding. Reading
books will continue to come home on a
weekly basis.

shapes, including the number of sides and line
symmetry in a vertical line
Identify and describe the properties of 3D
shapes, including the number of edges,
vertices and faces
Identify 2D shapes on the surfaces of 3D
shapes ( for example, a circle on a cylinder and
a triangle on a pyramid)
Compare and sort common 2D and 3D shapes

Talk about the weekly topics that are detailed
for each week

Ask simple problem questions about using number
in real life e.g. shopping with money using
measuring during cooking e.g. grams, milliliters

Encourage the children to tell the time
using an analogue and digital clock and to be
aware of the passing of time e.g. seasons.
Other homework will be sent for you to share with your child in their ‘Learning Log’. Please encourage and help them
with this then return it to school.
If you are unsure what to do with the ‘Learning Log’ on any particular week – PLEASE ASK.
