Textile Treatments Fabrics by Vescom For FR Polyester, Wool and Wool Blends The following treatments are available for upholstery and drapery textiles (other than Trevira CS) from our Fabrics by Vescom collection to enhance their performance in commercial interiors. Application of these finishes and backings can add two to three weeks to the delivery time. SPILL AND STAIN RESISTANCE These nanotechnologies build permanent spill and stain resistance into the molecular structure of textiles, without changing their natural look and feel. They do not contain formaldehyde, VOCs or PFOA (a likely carcinogenic chemical used in Teflon® and Scotchguard®). GreenShield ® is a safe, multifunctional, earth-friendly treatment that is third-party qualified by Scientific Certification Systems as an Indoor AdvantageTM Gold product, and has been positively assessed to be Silver Cradleto-Cradle CertifiedCM. GreenShield uses significantly less fluorocarbons than other finishes without compromising moisture resistance, stain resistance, or flammability. A minimum of 5 yards must be ordered. Nano-Tex ® is an alternative nanotechnology that delivers the same high-performance attributes as GreenShield. A minimum of 5 yards must be ordered. MOISTURE BARRIERS A moisture barrier can be applied to textiles used for projects requiring protection from liquids, such as hospitals, corporate cafeterias, and hotel public spaces. These state-of-the-art, breathable liquid barriers safeguard cushions, fabric, and furniture. They are generally coupled with a stain-resistant nanotechnology. Please note: A moisture barrier can only be applied to upholstery textiles and not to drapery textiles. Defend ® Moisture Barrier is a breathable barrier, which can be applied for a minimum of 10 yards. GreenShield with Defend, which couples high-performance stain resistance with a breathable moisture barrier, can be applied for a minimum of 10 yards. Nano-Tex with DuraBlock ® , which couples high-performance stain resistance with a breathable moisture barrier, can be applied for a minimum of 10 yards. BACKINGS FOR WALL APPLICATIONS When textiles are selected for application to walls, a heavy acrylic backing is required to ensure dimensional stability and prevent adhesives from seeping through to the surface of the fabric during application. The addition of a stain repellent is recommended. GreenShield with a Heavy Acrylic Backing* can be applied for a minimum of 55 yards (1 bolt). Nano-Tex with a Heavy Acrylic Backing* can be applied for a minimum of 110 yards (2 bolts). *Needle punching may be required, and is offered at no extra charge ANTIMICROBIAL TREATMENTS These finishes couple spill- and stain-resistant nanotechnology with a non-leaching antimicrobial that controls microorganisms that cause odors and stain. Antimicrobial treatments are effective against bacteria, fungi, algae and MRSA (antibiotic-resistant bacteria), and are ideal for drapery, seating, and wallcovering. GreenShield with Balance TM Barrier adds a moisture barrier along with a comprehensive stain-resistant, antimicrobial finish. A minimum of 10 yards must be ordered. Nano-Tex with BioAM TM adds an antimicrobial treatment and light acrylic backing to the Nano-Tex finish. A minimum of 10 yards must be ordered. Nano-Tex with BioAM and Durablock adds a moisture barrier to a comprehensive stain-resistant, antimicrobial finish. A minimum of 10 yards must be ordered. TAKE NOTE In order to yield a specific yardage, an additional 3/4 yard must be ordered to allow for waste. Since some of the alternative finishes may require additional testing, there will be associated time and costs. Textiles treated with any of the above-mentioned finishes and/or backings are non-cancellable and non-returnable. ADDITIONAL TREATMENTS There are several other textile finishes available for more specific performance requirements, including enhanced abrasion, protection against ink staining, puncture resistance, and improved flame resistance.
