ABSENCES
If your student is going to be absent,
please call Ms. Sylvia in the front office
and let her know so she may mark your
student’s absence correctly.
Remember:
Students who arrive after 8:15 are
tardy.
Students must be present for 50%
of the school day in order for them
to be considered “present.”
3 unexcused tardy days equals 1
unexcused absence
We hope that everyone had a great spring break! We were so
happy to see all of our KIPPsters back at school this past week.
This month at KNSP, we are focusing on our guiding principle of
Shine Your Light for Others. Students who Shine their Light for
Others are good teammates and celebrate themselves and others. At KNSP, we believe that being a good teammate means using kind words and kind actions. It also means that we make
choices that help all students in our class feel safe and learn at
school. Please talk with your student about what it means to be a
good teammate. We talk about these skills every Wednesday at
our whole school community meeting. All families are invited to
attend community meeting every Wednesday from 8:30-9:00
AM. We would love to see you there!
We can’t wait to see how all of our KIPPsters shine their lights
this month at KIPP North Star Primary!

PARENT INVOLVEMENT GROUP
Are you interested in being involved in a parent involvement group where you can offer suggestions, help plan
events, and make KNSP the best school for your student?
If you have not already indicated your interest in being a
part of this group, or if you have any questions, please
contact Ms. Sylvia as soon as possible. We will be having
our first planning meeting before the end of the year.
MEET A BIG KIPPster!
MEET A KIPPster!
Meet Ms. Emily, our Dance teacher ! Ms. Emily
grew up in the Bronx, NY and moved to MN to
attend Carlton College where she majored in
French and dance. Prior to coming to KNSP she
taught English in France and managed outreach
programs at the Cowles Center for the Performing Arts. One of her favorite things is to improvise dance and have adventures outside. She
also loves watching KIPPsters come up with
their own movement ideas. Ms. Emily believes
that it is important for students to have time in
their day to value their individual ideas with
dance. We love having Ms. Emily here at
KNSP!!
Meet Miss Sirai Jones from Bemidji
State! Sirai says that she likes recess
and math and playing with her friends.
She also likes to be on Super Star Orange! Her teachers say that she is a
friend to everyone and always does her
best! She helps those in need both in
class and on the playground. She is a
member of the graduating class of
2029! KNSP is fortunate to have Sirai
as a future alum.
END OF DAY
Our building hours are 7:30 am to 4:30 pm.
Parent Pick Up room is open from 4:00—4:15 pm. Please pick up your student by
4:15.
If it is after 4:30 pm and you have concerns about your student who is ridding the bus,
please call MTN directly at 763-571-1541.
If you are calling the school after school hours between 4:30 pm and 5:30 pm, please call

We are currently enrolling students Kindergarten through 2nd grade for the 2017-2018 school year. If
