Dear St. Ann Families:
This was an amazing Tiger Trot! Our school spirit is unmatched. A big THANK YOU
to Allie Clark and Sarah Emerson for leading the Tiger Trot this year! Also, many
thanks to all parent volunteers, the many underwriters (families, individuals, and
companies), the teachers, and the students for your support. Your family support is
phenomenal and is much appreciated. We’ve crushed our goal and the funds raised
will help enhance school technology and purchase more reading materials.
They say that “people make the place,” and I can truly say that there is no place else
I would rather be. You and your children make this St. Ann community the very special place that it is. Here, each and every day, We Are Always in the Presence of
God.
As we approach the finish line of the school year, know that our teachers are teaching hard all they way until the end and that your children are working hard to learn all
that they can. Below is an end of the school year prayer that I wanted to share.
Holy Spirit, you are kind and merciful. We know you
Have a plan to bless every moment of our lives. Inspire us to
take all of the lessons of the school year, hold them gratefully in our hearts, and then
offer them back to you. Lead us into our last weeks of school and into summer confident that you will bring good out of failures, as well as our accomplishments. There
is nothing that cannot bear beautiful fruits through your holy power.
Come, Holy Spirit. Amen!
Enjoy the weekend! We are…St. Ann!
All the best and God Bless,
Mike
WE ARE….ST. ANN!
Each child is a masterpiece of God, created with precision for a specific purpose.

Nancy Mrzlikal D’Angelo was born and raised in Utica, New York where she attended
Holy Trinity Grade School with her three sisters and one brother. Nancy met the love
of her life, Jim D’Angelo, while attending Utica College of Syracuse University. After
college, Jim joined the army and he
and Nancy were married.
They
moved to Colorado Springs, lived in
Santa Barbara, and then moved back
to Colorado. Nancy worked as a substitute teacher and obtained her master’s degree while she and Jim started
their family.
In 1990, Nancy and Jim moved to the
Kansas City area with their two sons,
so that Jim could start medical
school. That same year, Nancy started teaching at St. Ann, and a few
years later, Jim and Nancy welcomed
their third son. She has taught sixth
and fourth grades enlightening young
minds with her wit and wisdom. One
of Nancy’s gifts is the ability to connect with her students and make them feel special. Her encouraging words and positive attitude help students give their best effort. She can brighten any day with her
smile and lighthearted jokes. St. Ann has been blessed by her faithful service and is
grateful for her dedication. She will be greatly missed.

Faith and Discipleship
This month's virtues, obedience and meekness, find their
highest example in Jesus's willingness to obey His Father
and sacrifice Himself on the Cross.
Obedience stems from the cardinal virtue of justice and
involves listening to and following authority, most notably God and our parents.
Meekness is a part of temperance and involves remaining calm and not getting angry, even when we are provoked.
Please join us for Moms in Prayer Wednesday, May 6th in
the Gathering Space after Mass. We will be praying for our
eighth-grade graduates!
Some reading suggestions for obedience:
In honor of our graduates, here is a wonderful prayer that is
applicable to kids of any age, but particularly those who are
growing up and into young men and women...
Follow My Leader (4.5) by James B. Garfield
Number the Stars (4.5) by Lois Lowry
The Silver Chair (5.7) by C.S. Lewis
The Prayer of a Parent
The Sword in the Stone (7.5) by T.H. White
The Wind in the Willows (8.2) by Kenneth Graham
Eight Cousins (8.2) by Louisa May Alcott
Lord, as I live this day, renew in me the ability to laugh at
my children's antics; The time to share their moments of
pride; The need to praise their separate strengths; The faith
to trust their growing judgments; The patience to understand their changing moods; The virtue to forgive their disrespect; The openness to learning their ways and
styles; The ears to hear what they are saying; The insight to
embrace their doubts and fears;
The tenderness to understand their broken dreams; And
wisdom to accept that their lives are built just one day at a
time.
- Amen

AOK is a AoK (Acts of Kindness) is St Ann Catholic
School’s community outreach program. All students
participate in a variety of service projects, enabling each
of them to learn more about the needs of our local and
global communities, broaden their awareness, and
engage in positive, generous action. Each grade level
initiates and leads at least one specific project during
the school year.
We need of a few volunteers to help coordinate the
grade level projects in the following grades for next
year. Please let Heather Sullivan know if you are able
to volunteer at [email protected].

Dear Parents,
With the end of the school year quickly upon us, we know that you are making plans for your child's
summer vacations and activities. However, the break from school activities often causes students to
experience a lag in learning upon returning to school in the fall. Research shows students easily lose
a couple of months’ worth of math and reading skills during the long summer break.
In an effort to lessen this effect, We would like to recommend some FREE resources we have
available.
Here are some suggested resources for the summer:
NEWSELA Reading https://newsela.com
RAZ Kids Reading http://raz-kids.com (available for KDG and 1st Grade)
IXL Math https://www.ixl.com
Khan Academy https://www.khanacademy.org
Thank you for your continued support!
Tuition EFT for 2017-2018 School Year
The Tuition Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT) payment program is a very simple and
popular option in which your tuition payment is automatically withdrawn from your bank
account; no need to remember to make the payments, worry about getting past due
notices or incurring late payment fees. The first monthly withdrawal will be taken August 1st with subsequent withdrawals continuing on the first banking day of each month
September through May (ten payments in total). There is no cost associated with this
option.
To sign up for this payment option, please request an EFT Authorization Form from
Maureen O’Toole at [email protected] or 913-660-1131. Forms will need to be
filled out and returned by July 15th to ensure enough time to get set up for the first withdrawal on August 1st. If you are already participating in our Tuition EFT program, would
like to continue and there are no changes to your banking information, just respond to
Maureen O’Toole at the above email address “please continue”. That is all you need to
do. If there are any changes to your banking information, please let Maureen know so
she can update our records.
If you have any questions regarding the Tuition EFT program, please feel free to contact Maureen O’Toole or Bill Schafer at (913) 660-1128 or ([email protected]).
