Year 5 Term 3 2016
This term has had a focus on “Space” We linked this with our Literacy,
Science and Music.
In Literacy, we shared the Roman myth of Diana and Orion. We created
story-maps then we wrote our own versions of the story. After that, we
created our own stories in the style of a Roman myth.
Our Science work was all about the different planets. We found out that
there are four terrestrial planets and four gas planets. We also learnt about
the movement of the earth and moon and how this creates our days and
seasons. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit from the Explorer Dome during
Science Week!
In Music, we took Holst’s “Planets Suite” as our inspiration. We created our
own compositions to represent different planets.
