This is well-deserved national recognition in a year when both Schools have been through rigorous inspections by the Independent Schools Inspectorate and received outstanding outcomes. Excellence is at the heart of both schools, which continue to offer the most demanding and highly regarded subjects in the curriculum. The schools enjoy ongoing success in local and national competitions – both academic and extra-curricular. In the past month for instance, at the Boys’ school, pupils have won the North West Finals of the Senior UK Maths Challenge, going through to the national finals in the Spring. Two Year 12 pupils are through to the finals of the Frank Moran Young Writer’s Competition with a potential first prize of £1000, whilst another Year 12 pupil has been entered into the St John’s College (Oxford) classics and ancient history essay competition in February. In addition, our young chemists recently excelled in the Merseyside round of the Top of the Bench Chemistry Competition. At the Girls’ School similar achievements include a gold medal in the Cambridge University Chemistry Challenge; in chess the U14s have made it through to the North of England finals and a team of lower sixth Geographers won the Sefton Coastal Challenge. A Sunday Times Top 200 School “Headmaster, David Cook and Headmistress, Louise Robinson agree that choosing your A-level subjects carefully is really important – especially if you have aspirations to study at a leading university”. “Universities look for students who not only have good grades, but grades in the right subjects for which they have applied. Current offers to our Year 13 boys and girls have already come in from leading Russell Group Universities including Edinburgh and Durham, Liverpool and Bristol, and from the London School of Economics and Warwick. And of course we mustn’t forget a group of outstanding students who were recently interviewed by Oxford and Cambridge.” Merchant Taylors’ Schools receive national recognition MERSEYSIDE AND LANCASHIRE 2016 EXAMINATION RESULTS A LEVEL RESULTS Merchant Taylors’ Girls’ School Merchant Taylors’ Boys’ School Bolton School Boys’ Division MERSEYSIDE AND LANCASHIRE 2016 Bolton School Girls’ Division EXAMINATION RESULTS Winstanley WiganA*- B A LEVEL RESULTSCollege % GRADE Liverpool College78.21 Merchant Taylors’ Girls’ School Merchant Taylors’ Boys’ School 77.68 Bolton School Boys’ Division 73.2 St. Edwards College Bolton School Girls’ Division “The perfect environment for a child to B develop % GRADE A*socially and academically” 78.21 - Parent Satisfaction Survey 77.68 73.2 72.4 64.7 59.41 56.30 72.4 St Marys College Crosby 56.0 59.41 KGV College Southport 55.0 Winstanley College Wigan 64.7 Liverpool College St. Edwards College 56.30 Belvedere Academy56.0 St Marys College Crosby KGV College Southport 55.0 Belvedere Academy 55.4 Formby High School Range HS Formby53.14 Formby High School Range HS Formby 46.59 King David High School 44.64 King David High School 55.4 53.14 46.59 44.64 SOURCES SOURCES The Daily Telegraph tables August 2016 guardian.co.uk/education/a-levels/2016 The Daily Telegraph tables August 2016 School website guardian.co.uk/education/a-levels/2016 School website The Daily Telegraph tables August 2016 guardian.co.uk/education/a-levels/2016 School website 01546512.INDD 1 With a consistent 100% pass rate at A Level and 77% of all grades at A* to B, our academic reputation is the best in the area • Academic excellence • Outstanding extracurricular provision • Small class size • Subject specialists Visiting Morning: Friday 20th January 2017 All families welcome Entrance Exam: Monday 30th January 2017 For pupils considering entry into the senior schools in September 2017 The Best Education for Life www.merchanttaylors.com For further information and enquiries, call 0151 932 2414 The Merchant Taylors’ Schools, Crosby: a company limited by Guarantee.
