NEW
An Introduction to
Simple Basket Making
This four week course will cater for both
beginners and those with some experience
with simple basketry processes. Techniques
introduced will be coiling, netting and
simple weaving, as well as demonstrations
of basket decoration, stitching techniques
and other adornment processes. How to
gather and dry plant materials for basketry
will also be introduced. A list of possible
plant materials to gather before and during
the course will be provided.

Silk Painting
Learn various techniques of surface
design on silk, using salt, sugar, wax,
printing, shibori, rust and gutta. Scarves
and wall art pieces can be developed.
Helen will bring all materials for purchase
as required.
Suitable for beginners and those who
have worked in this medium previously.

Evening Watercolours
What is watercolour and how does it work?
This course is for students who wish to
experience the different methods and
techniques of watercolour and how to
use them. Lessons will explore ‘wet in
wet’, layering of colours, mixed media,
pen and watercolour, as well as colour
properties, opaque, stains, etc.
This course is suitable for beginners
and those with some watercolour
experience. Materials list available.
Students will work on one subject
throughout the course (provided from a
photographic source by the tutor). Learn
how to mix colours, brush techniques,
composition and the step-by-step
process for painting in a realistic or
representational style. Suitable for
beginners and students with some
