The role of Hydrogeologist is a crucial to lead the geological and hydrogeological components of site characterization and remediation projects as well as provide regulatory guidance to Project Managers. Job description In the role of Hydrogeologist from a technical perspective, physical hydrogeology (groundwater resource management) will be most prevalent, however there will also be opportunities to work on contaminant hydrogeology. The role will also have a high level of client interaction both internally and externally. The successful candidate will be a selfmotivated individual with a MSc degree in Geology or Hydrogeology; have 7-10 year track record in developing technical scopes of work, budgets, schedules, and work changes for industrial and government clients; and have a desire to grow personally as well as professionally with each hydrogeology job. Each day, you will lead environmental tasks in site characterization and remediation systems along with mentoring junior staff. Key job responsibilities include: Requirements Apply scientific principles to design and implement field programs to characterize and interpret the geological and geochemical settings of study sites with a focus on health and safety in all work; Must be experienced in logging and interpreting overburden, sedimentary and hardrock cores for the purposes of building conceptual site models; Experience in the development and running of hydrogeological modeling is a definite asset (Feeflow and Modflow); Solid skills in physical hydrogeology; Strong data analysis and presentation skills: technical writing; Must have experience in the design, implementation and interpretation of aquifer response (pumping) tests; Prediction of contaminant mobility as well as design of remedial programs; Development of conceptual site models for remedial systems; Work capably with multi-disciplinary teams for the purpose of meeting project objectives; Actively participate in business development efforts and lead hydrogeology specific business development opportunities. Further requirements for this position: Bachelor’s degree in geology, hydrogeology, or related discipline; Master degree in hydrogeology is preferred: Minimum of 7-10 years of experience physical hydrogeology; Previous experience with contaminant hydrogeology conceptual site models; Previous experience will have been in the oil & gas, mining, commercial or industrial sector(s); Ability to demonstrate a strong record in health and safety, including experience with behavior-based health & safety programs; Knowledge of Italian Site Assessment regulations and Environmental Legislation; Experience with field investigations of various environmental media (soil, soil vapor, groundwater, sediment, and surface water), data evaluation, and general remediation technologies; Must be a member of or qualify for membership with the respective bar; Ability to mentor and transfer knowledge/technical skills to junior professionals, and to motivate and lead teams; Italian native speaker and good English language skills; Project Managers and Account Managers; Business Development Managers; Arcadis international network.
