for student scholarships at CityArts.
There’s a creative energy pulsing through Wichita. Around every corner, sculptures bloom from dirt and concrete,
colorful murals bring life to archaic brick buildings and artisan pop up markets and festivals inspire community
involvement.
In November 2016, Randy Cohen, vice president of research and policy at Americans for the Arts, compiled a list of 10
reasons to support the arts:
• The arts promote true prosperity.
• The arts improve academic performance.
• The arts strengthen the economy.
• The arts are good for local merchants.
• The arts drive tourism.
• The arts are an export industry.
• The arts spark creativity and innovation.
• The arts have social impact.
• The arts improve healthcare.
• The arts mean business.
It’s no surprise our community loves the power of creativity and innovation, and CityArts is proud to be part of it all.
On Saturday, Oct. 14, 2017, the Wichita art community will gather inside CityArts to celebrate the artists who bring
energy and creativity to the city. The fourth annual CityArts Xtravaganza, subtitled “Keep ICT Creative,” will not only
celebrate these artists who call CityArts their second home, but will also encourage guests to support the creative
energy in Wichita.
At the event, guests will taste food and drink samples from local restaurants, take part in classroom demonstrations
and community art projects, listen to foot-tapping music and bid on live and silent auction items. All proceeds raised
through this event will support CityArts’ scholarship program, which serves to provide more artistic opportunities to
more people in the community.
We invite you to take part in this event by donating an item to our silent auction. This can include admission tickets,
event tickets, a gift basket, etc. Please see the attached document for more information.
