3 Calm is all Nature
Calm is all nature as a resting wheel.
The kine are couched upon the dewy grass;
The horse alone, seen dimly as I pass ,
Is cropping audibly his later meal:
Dark is the ground; a slumber seems to steal
O'er vale, and mountain, and the starless sky.
Now, in this blank of things, a harmony,
Home-felt, and home-created, comes to heal
That grief for which the senses still supply
Fresh food; for only then, when memory
Is hushed, am I at rest. My Friends! restrain
Those busy cares that would allay my pain;
Oh! leave me to myself, nor let me feel
The officious touch that makes me droop again.
4 Clear as a Diamond
Clear as a diamond
Baby trout struggle to survive the current
Mayflies at the top looking for food
Tiny creatures swimming
Fish looking for their prey
Stones hiding creatures not seen
Clear as a diamond
Racing the wind down the mountains into a reservoir
Hiding memories of peoples homes covered by water
Water for us to drink
Clear as a diamond
Water comes out of the faucet
People using it for drinking and cleaning and cooking
Water going to the people who need it.
5 CONSERVE WATER FOR OUR FUTURE
Let us all conserve water for our future,
To help it will take a lot of determination.
Water saves us from dehydration,
Some people think this is an exaggeration.
Water helps plants grow,
After storms, we can see beautiful rainbows.
Without water things will wither and die,
Water is limited I will not die.
All Earth depends on water to survive,
When you wake up you may use water to feel alive.
When you waste water, think about this first,
We also use water to quench our thirst.
We use water to wash our dishes,
Water is where we keep our pet fishes.
I hope you are listening to me
I’m begging you on my knees, let us all conserve the water please,
Otherwise we all will die in the need of it.
6 Cyclone
Sandipan Dhar, Thursday 31.10.2012; 8.00pm
I'm not sure who I see, who I need to be
Ghost are my dreams, makes no difference what they mean
Why don't you listen, why don't you give reasons, bearing shackles, laboring seasons
Give back the life and realize, relocate memories in stride
Awaken inside, pulled the knife from my side, and so it goes
On on...
What have I done, I've awaken the cyclone
In it, I'm alone, I'm alone
So alone, I'm alone
Unrelenting I've awaken the cyclone
What I've done lord, can't be undone
I've bitten the thorn, beaten by stone
Unrelenting I've awaken the cyclone
In it, I'm alone, I'm alone
So alone
What would I see if I could see across the ocean, but never could I
Awaken inside, montaged face fell from grace, and be struck back
Time lost the key, I'm lost within my means, weakened are the seams
Spinning reeling out of control, I've awaken the cyclone, and so it goes
On on...
What have I done, I've awaken the cyclone
In it, I'm alone, I'm alone
So alone, I'm alone
Unrelenting I've awaken the cyclone
What I've done lord, can't be undone
I've bitten the thorn, beaten by stone
Unrelenting I've awaken the cyclone
In it, I'm alone, I'm alone
So alone
I can't hold on, shepherd staff cracked in half
Bring me to my knees, send me blind out to sea
To no return, to no return
I can't breathe in fate, erase your pain on my behalf
Spinning reeling out of control, I've awaken the cyclone
In it I'm alone
We are hearing the news of SANDY at US and NEELAM on the coasts of Tamil Nadu; this is to them those who
have lost someone near or something important of their life. 7 Drought
(This what I think will be our story in theYear 2050)
Rises the sun on the parched lands
breaking the earth with dry cracks,
tearing the barks of withered stems,
burning the sands of sunny beaches,
drying up the juices hidden in the ground,
wrecking carcasses of picked clean bones.
Withered lowlands,
unfruitful steppes,
sulphur mines of stone slabs,
tufts of branches,
salty expanses,
desert spaces,
broad streams of stones,
holes of snakes.
The thirsty man drags along
his abnormal hostile shade
which, dark, obsessive and obstinate,
tails him on asphalts and deserts
to remind him of all the sins
committed in the past against the Earth.
Solitary, hidden by a leaning rock,
a bud of future green is born,
haggard bet
of woods,
precarious promise
of coolness,
of life
and of musks.
8 Mother Nature
Don't be fooled, it's Mother Nature –
Evil shimmers in the creature –
Absolutely nil of nice to greet you.
Only your selective mind has
Chosen what to see:
A pretty flower, furry mammal,
Butterflies of flashing colour –
Camels trekking on without a drink.
But do you ever stop to think?
Nature is what nature does:
The tearing up of flesh;
A scrawling victim dashed with toxin,
Struggling flies enmeshed in webs;
The cuckoo after all is just a parasite!
Darwin knew this many years ago –
The struggle for survival of the genes,
Using mighty panoplies of
Organisms: their machines.
But under selfish, brutal drive,
Crushingly, they survive and carry on
Through many generations
– And then again, and yet again...
Mutations, errors, and suffering,
Geological events,
Slaughter of the innocent –
So why be meek and reticent?
Dawkins chose to thunder on
And say his peace – God? How come?
Richard knows that when he goes,
That's it! Oh Shit!
You have a brain to model situations
– Those in which you're under threat –
So to help you thrive.
That is why you drive imagination to the limits –
Because you can…
You control exactly what to see through wonderment.
And so you cheat yourself!
A turning of a blind and silent eye;
Pretend that nature really is a glorious ride
Of beauty – just ignore the ugly side.
But sanity is what you crave
To steer you 'way from this depraved
And chilling life,
That has to face her: Mother Nature
9 Nature Rejoice
Nature rejoice,
for spring is here
Flowers burst into bloom
everywhere
Bright colored daffodils appear
Nature rejoice,
for spring is here
Nature sing,
for summer has come
Where birds and bees
chirp and hum
Along sandy beaches,
children run
Nature sing, for summer has come
Nature celebrate,
autumn is here to please
Where golden leaves fall from trees
And dance and sway in
the cool breeze
Nature celebrate,
autumn is here to please
Nature be happy,
winter has brought
The season of exciting
downhill sport
Icy crystals hang from our fort
Nature celebrate,
Winter has brought
10 Nature Silent-Prayer
Delhi is chilling
Winter compressed
My feeling
Every birds are
In deep silence
Like they want to
Avoid violence
Violence of fog
Defeated the sun today
Seize the divine energy
On its way
Now the fog
Spreading its wing
Want to stop everyone
Who wants to sing
Today nature is
Doing silent prayer
Coz Sun is missing
And Fog spread everywhere
No one can Imprisoned him For long
Because I know He is so strong
When he will arrive
He will make
Everyone bright
Till then lets do
A silent prayer.
11 Nature, the gentlest mother Nature, the gentlest mother, Impatient of no child, The feeblest or the way wardest, Her admonition mild In forest and the hill By traveler is heard, Restraining rampant squirrel Or too impetuous bird. How fair her conversation, A summer afternoon, Her household, her assembly; And when the sun goes down Her voice among the aisles Incites the timid prayer Of the minutest cricket, The most unworthy flower. When all the children sleep She turns as long away As will suffice to light her lamps; Then, bending from the sky With infinite affection And infinite care, Her golden finger on her lip, Wills silence everywhere. 12 Nature
Mother Nature births her children
Deftly writes creations plan
With the ink of all the ages
Shapes the sky, and sea, and man;
With the ancient key of knowledge
Locks the sphere in strict control
Delicately weighs the balance
Of the cosmic breath and soul.
She is generous in her nurture
Sprinkling beauty everywhere;
Knows the needs of all her creatures
Wraps them in her tender care
There's pulsating in her bosom
At the power of her will
Who would dare to ask a question
Or to test her wisest skill?
Only man in his presumption
Seeks to wrest from her - her power
Trys to reinvent her cunning
In his clumsy homemade bower;
Trys to varigate her patterns
Alternate existing drives
Which have served to every purpose
Upon earth - supporting lives
Man would suction to his wounding
Endless treasures from her womb
And disgard with greed the refuse
Soon with sludge the world entomb!
He would make her rule a mockery
Jeer at nature as she reels
And some day he'll reap the judgment
She inflicts ON HIM WHO STEALS
13 Nature's blessings called Spring
Nature's blessings
Cherry trees in bloom
Cascades of colours
Floating into my room
Nature's blessings
Eruption of new life
Everywhere around
It's the eternal bound
Nature's blessings
Spring's awakening
Fills one with new hopes
Melting away sorrow slopes
Nature's blessings
Shy scarce sunbeams
Sense of survival
Swallow's arrival
Nature's blessings
Flowers popping up
It's time to hold on
For young and old
Nature's blessings
Cycle of every year
Winter months we bear
Now earthly warming
Nature's blessings
Worth all the gold
Nature's natural gift
To life we all hold
Nature's blessings called Spring
14 Our Nature
Nature is beautiful
nature is fun
love it or hate it
nature is something to love
nature is god's gift to us
Nature
Nature we love
wate and feed nature
Nature water's and feed's us
god gave us nature
we can’t live without it
nature makes us
i know nature
Nature is beautiful
Nature is about the earth
nature has flower; s and weed's
weed's or flower's nature is us
15 Rain as a gift
Through a square space small
But what definitions of life forms
The eyes focused on the unleashing rain
Sounds of the continuous beating on the roof top
Thunderous, soft, beating incessantly
A musical sound
Misty outside, between the clumps of bamboo
And the tops together swaying hypnotically
Side to side, forward, backward a dance of a slow samba
Bacarno tall, branches moving the leaves wet
Looking like wet blackbirds
A cabbage palm reaching for the sky
Striking in height forming an umbrella above
With a branch of poui yellow flowers in bloom
Crossing the one legged giant
Humming birds luminous green and red in flight
Mating in mid air, what speed
A spellbound sight
Hillside cleared to plant peas
The smell of cut grass and the smell of shaved pine
Swinging in a hammock - heaven
Then the rain-flies jubilant thousands everywhere
Wings covers the newly made floor
From inside looking through
A small square space at wonders. 16 Rain
The thin clouds drift across the sky
And veil the sun but not its heat;
The narrow rivers running dry
Resent the herds of anxious cattle
Which tread their banks with urgent feet.
The farmer bent beneath his toil
Drives the reluctant plough across
The angry and unyielding soil,
So ill-equipped to fight the battle,
So thin the line of gain or loss.
But see against the setting sun
Dark streamers blow across the sky,
And e’er another day is done
The annual miracle has fallen
In drops of cool fertility.
The glad cow raises up her head,
The joyful ploughman stands upright,
The grasses in the river-bed
Delight to see the waters swollen
And earth bathed in a gentle light.
17 SAVE NATURE FOR OUR FUTURE
GOD gave us birth,
To clean the earth.
But we made more dirt,
And lost earth’s worth.
Bike’s gear,
Increases pollution of air.
Don’t waste water,
Little at least keep for future.
Vehicle’s noise,
Creates pollution of noise.
Greater volume of size,
Will make the sun to not rise.
Do not cut trees,
Air will not freeze.
Do not create pollution,
Do not increase population.
To GOD I said,
“Why dirty the earth you made?
Due to which today man is sad!
And the whole world is bad!”
GOD said me “Remember to clean earth
I gave you birth.
But you made more dirt,
And lost earth’s worth.
Oh great man!
Still you can!
Go and clean,
Then only you will win!”
18 SAVE WATER SAVE A LIFE
NATURE HAS GIVEN US WATER
THAT IS VERY USEFUL,
WE CANNOT LIVE WITHOUT IT,
IT MAKES OUR LIFE BEAUTIFUL.
IF THERE WAS NO WATER,
WE WOULD NOT HAVE RAIN,
THE MOST PLEASANT TIME IN THE WORLD,
THE HOT SUN WE SUFFER AGAIN AND AGAIN
IF YOU WASTE THE PRECIOUS WATER,
THE LIFE WOULD BECOME A BOWING KNIFE,
IT WOULD BE CRITISIZED BY THE OTHER PLANETS,
“HA! YOU SAID THAT YOU BEAR LIFE”
19 SUMMER MORNING WALK "When on a summer's morn I wake, And open my two eyes, Out to the clear, born‐singing rills My bird‐like spirit flies. To hear the Blackbird, Cuckoo, Thrush, Or any bird in song; And common leaves that hum all day Without a throat or tongue. And when Time strikes the hour for sleep, Back in my room alone, My heart has many a sweet bird's song ‐‐ And one that's all my own."
20 THE CLEVER PITCHER PLANT
They flew side by side
In a stream of sanctity
Love bloomed on their wings
That could last an eternity
Through the woods they sang
Merry tunes of jolly days
Upon flowers they perched
Their wings in colorful ways
From brown trunks to green leaves
They swayed with shining glee
Among friends and no foes
They vowed to raise a family
He broke away in search of sweet
Honey for his little dear ones
While she surfed in the lights
To reach the flock of flora that stuns
The beautiful pitcher opened its arms
And invited the luckless bee within
Down she went rapid and weak
Her screams drowned with her skin
He sensed a misgiving, and flew
Toward the satisfied, ruthless pitcher
He sat and wept till the curtains drew
The moon shone on the plant richer
The young ones grew free and fresh
With sweet nectar spreading joy
The old bee still pined in the forest
Building a shrine of the pitcher convoy
Until under one bright full moon
His strength seemed to give away
Young bees gathered, and asked “Dear,
What made you prolong your stay?”
He shot a weak glance at the pitcher
And explained in a wise, somber tone,
“Just as we rob the nectar from the flower,
We are their food, so leave them alone.” 21 The Gift Called Nature
Nature is mighty
Nature is strong
Nature is usually always right
Nature is rarely ever wrong
Nature is beauty
Nature is moody
Nature is smart
Nature always has the greater part
Nature is blue
Nature is green
Nature is every color possibly seen
Nature is true
Nature is beaming
Nature is dreaming
Nature is in every place
Nature is always with grace
Nature is true
Nature is you
Nature is me
Nature will forever be free.
22 The Honey Bee
In the springtime, joyous spring-time,
When the birds begin to sing,
And we hear the murmuring brook-lets,
Then the bees are on the wing.
When the long, cold days are over
Bees are out to sip the dew
And the nectar from the clover,
Buttercups and daisies blue.
Supers placed above the beehive
For the honey bee to find,
Will be filled if showers are given
To the flowers of every kind.
Then the bees are kind and gentle
"Take it hog," they seem to say;
"We will work again the harder
After the next rainy day.
"And we'll fill again the super,
We don't mind with you to share,
Early morn will find us busy
Gathering honey everywhere.
We just gladly gather honey,
And the wax from off our back
We produce, now is'nt it funny,
No material do we lack.
"For our queen cells we have polen,
Any egg a queen may be,
From the proper food and cover,
We produce a queen, you see.
If some drones we wish for mating,
Other food we must supply,
Just the food we give while waiting
For their hatching by and by."
"But when frost on field and hillside,
In the autumn kills the flower,
And in vain we search for honey,
In each glen and leafy bower,
Then in every hive is stationed
Guards to watch our winter's store,
For if you would rudely take it,
We would search in vain for more.
"And we sting with all our fury,
Take our honey if you dare,
For we want to keep from starving
In the winter, so beware."
There's a moral we may gather
From the busy bee for all,
23 Gather food stuff in the summer,
And protect it in the fall.
24 THE OTHER NAME OF LIFE CALLED WATER
Water looks like a skating rink.
Water feels cold.
Water sounds like waves crashing of rocks.
Water smells odourless.
Water is very precious.
Water looks colourless.
Water feels hot or cold.
Water sounds like waves crashing into rocks.
Water smells odourless.
Water tastes cool and refreshing.
Water looks like little drips from the sky.
Water feels like it is cold and wet.
Water sounds like a big wave coming.
It smells like a salty sea.
It tastes like a cool drink.
Water looks like shiny ice.
Water feels cold.
Water sounds like water crashing off rocks.
Water smells odourless.
It tastes cool.
Water looks like a shiny sea.
Water feels wet and relaxing.
Water sounds like rain on a window pane.
Water is odourless.
Water tastes cool and refreshing.
Water is precious and we need to use it wisely.
Water looks a glittering ocean.
Water feels hot or cold and relaxing.
Water sounds swishy and sometimes harsh.
Water smells salty if it is at the beach.
Water tastes refreshing.
Water looks like drips falling from the sky.
Water smells like the salty sea.
Water tastes cold wet and hot.
Water feels wet.
So Water is extremely important to us because it keeps us alive. 25 THE RAINY DAY
The day is cold, and dark, and dreary;
It rains, and the wind is never weary;
The vine still clings to the mouldering wall,
But at every gust the dead leaves fall,
And the day is dark and dreary.
My life is cold, and dark, and dreary;
It rains, and the wind is never weary;
My thoughts still cling to the mouldering past,
But the hopes of youth fall thick in the blast,
And the days are dark and dreary.
Be still, sad heart, and cease repining;
Behind the clouds is the sun still shining;
The fate is the common fate of all,
Into each life some rain must fall,
Some days must be dark and dreary.
26 The Silent Sea
" Shades of green and aqua blue
The sea painted a thousand hues
Beneath thundering ocean wave
Out of the reach of mariners graves
A living testimony swims in majesty
once the rulers of the sea
A whale song rings from beneath the ocean
A song of praise and true devotion
To the God of creation and of the sea
A sea being robbed by cruel thieves
The whale song drifts silently away
The hands of man have silenced their praise
As God looks down in his majesty
As tears trickle down on the silent sea.
But now its time for all of us to say only PURI PURI
27 THE TALE OF BAMBOO
Carried out by strong winds
Only wanting to return home
Heading southward, the wind blows me northward
Thinking it will blow eastward, it takes me westward
Drifting, drifting, where will I end up?
Surely I will perish and yet life continues
Wandering through hills and plains
Drifting and turning, no place to stay
Who knows my hurt?
I wish to be grass in the forest
Burned in autumn fires
Destroyed by fire-- does his extinguish the pain?
Wishing for this with my roots remaining
What do you do with us?
Abundantly it surrounds you
Left to burn or rot
Why don’t you have an industry- Bamboo?
Craft endless utilities
An interesting study Bamboo
Paper, houses, furniture, musical instruments
Grows so quickly- Bamboo
Many parts of the world utilize bamboo
Why don’t you too use us more, Eh! Bamboo?
28 The Wind
How cool the top leaves of the tree
That tremble in the busy air,
So gentle that it seems to be
A band with just sufficient pressure
To ruffle a child’s curly hair.
But for away the wind can move
White clouds about the mountain’s crest
And stir the mists that lie above
The lonely passes, then at leisure
Goes whispering to take its rest.
The heat comes down upon the plains
And for the millions toiling there,
The wind’s cool breath alone sustains
Their failing energies and ever
Consoles them with a comfort rare.
And when the sweet rain-scented wind
Sweeps up the valleys, bending low
The harvest, weary peasants find
Their dry hearts fertilized with pleasure
And flowers about their sorrows grow.
29 Tortured Nature
Nature must be love
It is made by god above
Nature is in place
Nature is always with grace
The nature is green
It is colorful when seen
Nature is serene
It is peaceful ever seen
But people is bad
They make mother nature mad
When nature gets mad
It feels like the wrath of god
Disaster of nature
Is enough of your torture
Nature is flower
It gives love like a lover
30 WATER THE MEANING OF LIFE
Life Started From Water
Nature Flourishes With Water
Seasons Caused By Water
Development Progresses With Water
Energy Formed Of Water
Health Depends On Water
Religion Imbibes Water
History Made Of Water
Trade Rides On Water
Bio-Diversity Needs Water
Water Sustains Life
It Brings Prosperity and Happiness
Water is for everyone,
Cleaning, washing, having fun.
Water can be serious though,
So try not and let it go.
We can drink water too,
Ocean water no, no, no.
Water drip dropping from the tap.
No, no, no we don’t want that.
Lakes without Water,
So Let Us All
Harness Water Resources For Our Better Future
31 Water
By the sunlight and the moon,
The water glows.
The reflection and it’s shine
That’s what it shows.
To be fresh, to keep fresh
That’s what we need.
To water, and feed
A tiny seed.
Water is important
To our environment
To our world.
32 Wetlands
O' Wetlands! How I mourn for you,
Death is close at hand,
I am called many names,
Estuarine, mangrove swamp, marsh, bottomlands
And surrounded by mangrove forests,
With oysters stuck to my roots,
Fishes live and depend on me, to feed spawn and grow,
Crabs have homes, tunnels of holes around me,
Turtles pay a visit every year to lay,
And birds of green, little blue and yellow night herons
Reflect upon me.
I also help to protect you, I take in carbon and
Release oxygen for you to breathe
I function like a strainer and a sieve to filter pollutants
From the sea, making it safe for you to swim
I hear two thousand a new millennium
Will I be here for my eco-system and other sisters to survive and flourish?
I am now threatened. I have been cut I am bleeding
Garbage is dumped in and around me I cannot breathe
Filth- Sewage flows into me- I will become sick
Development hotels and airports are building around us
We are dying. Who are the powers that be? Does anyone care?
Will we be saved? Is it already too late?
I hope that we can be saved,
Because in saving us the benefits and gains are so rich,
That we can become millionaires together with MOTHER EARTH
33 Wild Geese
You do not have to be good.
You do not have to walk on your knees
For a hundred miles through the desert, repenting.
You only have to let the soft animal of your body
love what it loves.
Tell me about despair, yours, and I will tell you mine.
Meanwhile the world goes on.
Meanwhile the sun and the clear pebbles of the rain
are moving across the landscapes,
over the prairies and the deep trees,
the mountains and the rivers.
Meanwhile the wild geese, high in the clean blue air,
are heading home again.
Whoever you are, no matter how lonely,
the world offers itself to your imagination,
calls to you like the wild geese, harsh and exciting -over and over announcing your place
in the family of things.
34 WINTER
Winter is cold, with gusts of tumbling snow
When rain falls down and nothing ever grows
For children it’s the snow that they desire
And cups of co-co in front of the fire
When winters gone, the grass grows green again
Roses and Tulips sprout, with bright green stems
The bees are buzzing, the birds are singing
Sheep are grazing and cow bells are ringing
And then the sun starts to shine too brightly
It’s so hot that fans are put on nightly
And so then it’s off to the beach or pools
Where people swim about just to keep cool
All the leaves on the trees turn golden-brown
And when on the ground make a crackly sound
In autumn a lot of money you make
For clearing backyards of leaves with a rake
Each season has its own goods and its bads
But since they are all different I am glad!
35 Wonders Of Mother Nature
Mother nature
Oh mother nature
How beautiful and lovely you are
With such a tender loving care
Mother Nature
Ohh! Mother Nature
Our dearest mother nature
Our amazing mother nature
Ohh! Mother Nature
If nature allows can I please ask you a question
As a mother
How come you killed your young?
How come you made your fellow mothers cry?
How come you took away their joy?
You took the only thing that made their lives blossom
You suppose to make life beautiful
Mother Nature you suppose build
But how come you destroyed homes
Mother Nature you suppose to make the world a good place to be in
Yet you have turned the world to be a horrible place
Mother Nature as a mother you suppose to warn your young when the go
astray
Not to destroy them
Yet you destroyed and killed them
You suppose to symbolize new beginnings and that there’s always hope
Yet you came and shuttled people’s lives and dreams
