Monday 20th July The Bewbush Academy The Bewbush Academy Weekly Newsletter Weekly Newsletter Headteacher’s Headline The Year 6 production ‘Shakespeare Rocks’ was amazing and we are so proud of all the children for putting on such an incredible show with: acting; dancing; singing; fantastic props; lighting and sound. All the children had an important part to play on and off the stage. A huge ‘well done’ and ‘thank you’ to all the Year 6 staff for making this possible, not forgetting our site staff who helped them stage the production. The Year 5 children also performed for family and friends at their end of term guitar concert, and Year 1 thoroughly enjoyed their workshop all about dragons at the beginning of the week. The end of term is rapidly approaching and we are saying some sad farewells to a number of our staff. Mr Byrne-Smith is leaving us to become the deputy head teacher in a London school, Miss Shepherd is moving away and taking up a promotion in a new school, Mrs Stevens and Mrs Gough are also coming to the end of their time with us and moving to pastures new. We wish them all the very best and hope they enjoy their new roles. As our Year 6 children leave us for their new schools we wish them all the best for the future, we have been very proud to have you at The Bewbush Academy and know you will make your new schools’ equally proud too. We wish all our families a happy summer holiday and look forward to seeing those who are returning and joining the school in September. Dragons Story telling at the dragon workshop Address: The Bewbush Academy Dorsten Place, Bewbush, Crawley, West Sussex, RH11 8XZ Telephone:01293 534897 Email: [email protected] To support their topic on ‘Castles’ the pupils from Year 1 had a workshop on dragons this week. A storyteller told the tale of ‘Nucker’ a dragon from Arundel, and the children dressed up and played the roles of the characters in the story. The children also got to look at various dragon artefacts and enjoyed dressing up as a Chinese dragon and performing a dragon dance for their teachers. Guitar Concert On Monday the 13th, pupils from Year 5 put on a guitar and singing concert for their family and friends. The pupils sang songs to support their topic on Ancient Greece, they also sang ‘Don’t worry about a thing’- by Bob Marley. The students on guitar played the song ‘Chasing cars’, by Snow Patrol, which everyone greatly enjoyed. The cast was filled with historical characters, including Queen Elizabeth the 1st and a variety of characters from the bard’s plays. The children performed with great enthusiasm and sang seven superb songs, that were modern and full of energy. We would like to thank the pupils of Year 6 for all their hard work putting on such an entertaining show; and not forgetting the crew and production staff who worked so hard out of the limelight. I am confident they have inspired future Year 6 pupils. Well done!
