Probably won’t have to worry about snow, but Steps for Students is an all-weather race. We will run unless our Race Director calls the race due to weather conditions that might threaten the imminent safety of our runners. Weather & Race Day updates will be posted on the Facebook Blog Feed of the Steps for Students 5K Run website at steps4students.org. Please check this site before you leave your house on Race Day morning for the latest breaking news. 6. Lost Children & Found Items? It’s best to have a meet-up point with your family (ex. your school’s tent), but in case you are separated, all lost children or any found items turned in will be taken to the Information Booth in the Catholic School Village. 7. How Do runners and walkers line up at the START line? The Start Line is arranged by run time. Race Guides will be holding signs with posted mile times (how fast you run a mile). If you know your mile time, line up next to the appropriate sign. If you are not a competitive runner or DO NOT know your mile time, please line up between the last posted time sign (10 minutes) and the WALKERS sign. Walkers MUST line up behind the WALKERS sign. Walkers will be released after the runners’ wave. All participants with strollers MUST line up behind the walkers. Please be cautious & respond to all requests given by Race Officials at the Start Line. NOTE: At the Start Line, you WILL hear a Whistle blown— This is a Recall Whistle for competitive runners to get in position—It is NOT the Start Signal. The START SIGNAL is a pistol firing. Only the Pistol firing releases runners. PARENTS/ Guardians: Please inform your children NOT to run when the whistle is blown. 3. How do I wear my runner’s bib and Timing Chip? CHIP- Your Timing Chip number MUST match your BIB number. IF IT DOESN’T, please go to the Registration garage on Race Day and let them know. Secure your Timing Chip to your SHOE using your laces or using a twist tie. The Timing Chip will not work if not attached to your shoe. Please remove your Timing Chip after you have passed the Finish Line Chutes. Race Officials will be on hand to collect them and help you remove them if needed. Please RETURN your Timing Chip before you leave the race. BIB—Pin race numbers on the front of your shirt with the safety pins provided. Bibs need to be visible.
