I’ve attached Brent Clark’s, IASA Executive Director, Op Ed article he wrote regarding this issue. • Next week, I have an Administrator’s Academy on Thursday in Macomb. On Friday, there is a WIU administrative roundtable with Ralph Martire, Executive Director for the Center for Tax and Budget Accountability. We have also invited legislators to attend as well to hear from an expert, and a non-politician, about what Illinois needs to do to get out of this budget mess. • I plan on taking personal days on Tuesday and Wednesday of next week. • Recently, ISBE released FY17 GSA projections based on Rauner’s plan to “fully fund” the GSA formula. The way the formula is written now, districts are to receive $6,119 per student as the foundation level. However, that figure has been prorated the last several years. Under Rauner’s plan, Dallas City would receive $58,105.80 LESS than we did this year. However, if we had been fully funded last year, that decrease would be over $97,000. Some of this is due to the rise in EAV. However, a significant factor is due to how the DHS low-income students are counted this year compared to the previous two years. The difference is how the "Poverty Grant" was calculated would result in a decrease in $101,510.14 just on that line item alone. • I have a couple of closed session items to discuss. • We received another PRESS Update. I would like to hold a Committee of the Whole for the May meeting.
