FEBRUARY RHYMES AND SONGS
Mix a Pancake
Mix a pancake
Stir a pancake,
Pop it in the pan.
Fry the pancake,
Toss the pancake,
Catch it if you can!
Motor Cars, Motor Cars
(Tune: Jingle Bells)
Motor cars, motor cars,
Travel on the road,
Along with great big lorries,
And their heavy load;
But little feet, little feet,
They should always be,
Walking on the footpath,
Where it is safe, you see.
Five Little Mice
Five little mice came out to play,
Gathering crumbs up on their way;
Out came pussy-cat
Sleek and black,
Four little mice went scampering back!
Four little mice etc.
Chug, Chug, Chug, Chug, Chug, Chug
Chug, chug, chug; chug, chug chug,
Chugging down the track.
See our little choo-choo train
Chugging down and back.
We are cars all lined up,
Chugging just like so.
Hear our whistle toot-toot-toot
As down and back we go.
(To tune of Jingle Bells)
The Elephant
The elephant goes
Like this and that,
He’s terrible big,
And he’s terrible fat.
He has no fingers,
And he has no toes,
But goodness gracious,
What a nose!
Hold Mum’s Hand
(Tune: Three Blind Mice)
Hold mum’s hand,
Hold mum’s hand,
To cross the road,
To cross the road,
Stop and look
And listen with care,
Of the traffic
You must beware,
So hold mum’s hand.
Repeat.
One Fat Elephant
One fat elephant balancing
Step by step on a piece of string;
Thought it was such wonderful fun
That he called for another one to come
Two fat elephants etc.
This is the way we cross the road
Tune: - Here we go round the Mulberry
Bush)
This is the way we cross the road,
Cross the road, cross the road,
This is the way we cross the road,
On our way to school.
We hold tightly to mummy’s hand,
Mummy’s hand, mummy’s hand,
We hold tightly to mummy’s hand,
On our way to school.
Then we find a safe place to cross,
Place to cross, place to cross,
Then we find a safe place to cross,
On our way to school.
Next we stop and look and listen,
Look and listen, look and listen,
Next we stop and look and listen,
Before we cross the road, Before we cross
the road.
Oh we’re Riding on the Bus
Oh, we’re riding on the bus, on the bus,
Oh, we’re riding on the bus, on the bus,
Oh, we’re riding on the bus,
Come along and ride with us.
Oh, we’re riding on the bus, on the bus.
(Tune: If You’re Happy and you know it)
Man with a lollipop
(Tune:- Brown Girl in the Ring)
Man with a lollipop,
Tra la la la la,
Stop says the lollipop,
Tra la la la la la,
See all the traffic stop
Tra la la la la,
Across the road we walk,
Tra la la.
Lady with a lollipop,
Tra la la la la,
Stop says the lollipop,
Tra la la la la la,
See all the traffic stop,
Tra la la la la
Across the road we walk,
Tra la la.
This Little Pig
This little pig went to market,
This little pig stayed at home,
This little pig had roast beef,
This little pig had none;
And this little pig
Cried “Wee-wee-wee”,
All the way home.
Down at the Station
Down at the station early in the morning,
See the little puffer trains standing in a row
Along comes the driver, pulls the little
handle
Choo, choo, choo and off we go.
Down at the bus stop early in the morning,
See the little children lined up in a row.
See the yellow school bus pick up all the
children,
Vroom, vroom, vroom, vroom, off they go!
Down at the farmyard early in the morning
See the little tractor standing in the barn
Do you see the farmer pull the little handle?
Chug, chug, chug, chug, and off we go.
Little Piggy-wig
Little piggy-wig on the farm close by
All by himself ran away from the sty.
The dog said “Woof”,
The cow said “Moo”,
The sheep said “Baa”,
The dove said “Coo”,
Little piggy-wig began to cry,
And as fast as he could
He ran back to the sty!
